Development fee or recovery fee
by Seenu Subbu on Jun 05, 2008 12:54 AM  Permalink

All the bribes they had to pay to Devegowda and his evil clan need to be recovered, right?
Thank God, they didn't name the airport after Indira Gandhi or Rajiv Gandhi.

not at all international standards
by sanjay agarwal on May 23, 2008 05:59 PM  Permalink

I am an architect and I was all shocked to see the so hyped new BIAL. It is so surprising that our media is also so illitrate when it comes to appreciate good things. What they have been praising as world class airport, is nothing more than a better version than existing airport any where in the country. The airport is so old fashined designed as compared to new breed at KL, singapore, shangahai, etc. that this is nothing more than a glossy warehouse/yard. By putting swanky flooring and materials, you dont achieve design. Design is something which you visualise and plan and develop. I am sorry that such airports represent the corrupt nature of our country. it is so evident at all corners of this airport. Ugly columns, ugly selection of materials, bad lighting, inefficient AC, not so good toilets, foorball ground kinfd of planning etc etc..there is no design no architecture but only a good quality shed. We need much better than this.

Mr sanjay agarwal, i think i am going to die laughing after reading ur post. The software brains in india are from the south. The whole world accepts this. even bill gates praised south indians specifically for their IT Skills. just becos u got pissed of by gopal kirshna it doesnt mean u talk non sense. this is the problem with u northies, we do the hard work and u claim the credit. You guys are peanuts in computer skills compared to southies. I agree there are some good it guys from north but very minute compared to southies. Many southies who have worked in bang have left for the US and some of u guys have come in their place and have started to feel like u r running the show.although gopal asking northeis to leave bangalore is wrong. anyone can stay anywhere.

What non-sence again a fight between south and north india...How could you say south indian people are having software brains and not north indian?Bill gates praised south indian workers as software engineers. If you mean to say about Narayan Murti of Infy or Nadar of HCL...But my dear southy...Do not forget vinod Khosla(Co-founder of Sun micosystems)or Sabir Bhatia(Founder of Hotmail)who are from north india..And these people are called as indian with brain..

Hope you better understand and never fight again for south india or north india..

Why Devanhalli was chosen for International Airport
by Prem Krishnan on Mar 06, 2008 04:25 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Hi
Does anybody has idea why Devanhalli was chosen for the International airport rather than some place between Mysore and Bangalore. An airport between Mysore and Bangalore would have served both cities. Now Mysore would need another International Airport.
I really wonder why Devanhalli?

thanks in advance.

Because politicians had land around that area, or they planned to buy there after hyping up about the airport.

It is still Bangalore (not Bengalooru)
by Common Man on Feb 29, 2008 02:20 PM  Permalink

Dear Rediff, the name change from Bangalore to Bengalooru was proposed sometime during HDK regime and it is NOT officially signed yet and an ordinance has NOT yet been passed by the parliament. Heck, Karnataka does not even have a Government right now.

Please do not get carried away and start referring it as Bengalooru. Let the order gets passed. Then we will go with the new name.

I know being a native of Karnataka, we always call it as: Bengalooru (even when we write the boards on KSRTC buses).

But let it become official. Hold your horses till then.
