Charges on the sly
by Bharat Engineer on Feb 25, 2008 02:12 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Lalu hasn't increased rail fares. But, people are paying more. This is how...
1. If you don't book ticket from the starting point of travel, Rs. 10 is charged extra.
2. Tatkal quota is made 3 times the existing quota, so that it's impossible to get regular tkt. Hence, you have to shell out Rs150 more for sleeper and even more for higher classes
3. Just by reducing journey time of 15 hrs by 1/2 hr, the trains are called 'superfast', and the superfast surcharge has to be paid...
4. The cancellation charges are doubled.
5. Introuding the 3rd birth on the side, which is already cramped.

None of these measures are announced in the budget, not even announced publicly, but silently introduced.
Lalu is a master politician, adept at hitting below the belt...

Yes you are correct.

The seating arrangement in broad gauge trains was 3 x 2 in a row and in meter gauge train was 2x2 (Chair car). now they have increased one seat in both cwtegories. It is very cramped.

It is all lalu's railway economics.!!!

Mr Fasih

More that train to Ajmer we need MMTS-Phase - II immediately. Our MPs of Hyderabad did not even attend the meet that took place with railways in 1st week of Feb,08. Even the congress govt is not insisting on that. They are least bothered about railways. Already MMTS trains are full in the day. I travel by MMTS everyday. This is the interest these congres MPs have on Andhra Pradesh. God save AP from these bastard MPs.

Riding on the changes introduced by then Railway Minister Nitish Kumar!
by Murli on Feb 25, 2008 02:02 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

What Railway has witnessed in terms of profit and greatn rennaissance has been not due to lalu yadav. In fact he entred the story in the mid when every new strategy was already implemented by his predecessor Nitish Kumar, now CM of Bihar. Most of the decision were taken by him. Also credit Mr. Sunil Kumar from Bihar cadre of IAS officers who is the brain behind this all.
It is just shame on journalism that repeatedly this man lalu is able to even thug well educated journalists not only in India but in places liek Harvard and IIM, while the deserving person for all thsi credit is Nitish Kumar, who gets no mention anywhere!

Come on and wake up.
Lalu has done nothing and he is not brought Railway into profit making. All are pre-calculated game played by Lalu. The fact is that Rail ministry, 33% of the total money has to be used for modernisation of the coach and safety, for which Lalu is keeping only 12% for the same and remaining 21% he is putting into the Profit book. Shame on Lalu
Please wake up common people.

Oh come on! You are being guided by the feeling that Lalu cannot do anything. Even if you say that it has been done by compromissng safety the could you please explain the causes of so many accidents that took place before lalu came in and 33 % of money was being spend on safety. please understand that runing a company and commenting on it while sitting outside are two different things. Learn to appreciate good work.

Simple question - If he could change railways in few years why could he not do anything to bihar where he was CM for more than 15 years!!

A classic example of politicins taking credit of somebody else's hard work!! Real credit goes to the officers who have prepared the pages which this guy signs. I wonder if he ever understood what is written there!!

Those officers are also working in railway since years but why they were not able to get profit.

We have to see the history of that place, Mostly you get grains and other agri product from that belt of Punjab, UP, Bihar. So the people were mostly engaged in Agriculture they were late to start formal education. No other state can produce all the agri product. Few states have that power. Wheat the staple food, is produced in the north Indian belt.
