by sridhar rao on May 21, 2008 11:53 AM  Permalink

How can anyone give so much credit to lalu on the railways performance.
I can only say that he is an intellegent person to the extent thatbhe could understand the suggestions of his officers [who really are the peopel who have turned around railways] and gave approval for the same.i can never agree that he is the man who turned around railways.
also with a booming econmoy things fell in place fr him and freight revenue increased and lot of profits were generated...
i just caanot accept the ype about him.people should think before they praise him ......

Lalu's Railway budget
by Janardan Murhekar on Feb 26, 2008 11:24 PM  Permalink

Lalu's budget is as usual with only promises. Anybody can remember what he had promised for mumbai. He today told that the four lines are ready as promised. Does Lalu expect the commuters to run on the four tracks? 157 local trains were promised for these track in last budget of which only 3 trains arrived! Those who want promises may be pleased.
The facts that 1) Laalu promised last year the cushion seats in local trains which are not arrived till this budget and 2)5% reduction for common passenger and 7 % for AC-2 tier only show neither he knows how the passengers travel in local trains. Mumbaikars wont mind the existing fares, nor they areinterested in cushion-like airy things. The nunber of trains,
frequency, basic sanitory facility on stations etc are the key issues for commuters. Many stations like Andheri have Naigara rain water-falls on the platforms and staircases. But Lalu thinks of Cushion. Amravati--Mumbai train was not necassry nor was there any demand. But Lalu did not waste the chance to woo our Honble Prez.
The elections are round the conrner and Lalu has showered the promises which need not materialise as was seen last years budget. I wonder how people find managerial skills in him. If at had he anything, it would have surfaced in His Bihar and wud never have lost elections. In Marathi it is said "Bolachich Kadhi, Bolachach Bhaat" words are curry words are rice and we have to quench our stomoch by that.

Ridiculous
by Iype J on Feb 26, 2008 04:28 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is ridiculous to imagine that it was Laloo who turned around Railways. Now, if he gets back Bihar after the turn around has begun by Nitish takes effect, the same will be said. That it was Laloo who turned around Bihar. Funnily, the man who did the job both at Railways and now Bihar is the same - Nitish!

Hats Off To Lalu...But he also deserves his share of curse....
by manish gautam on Feb 26, 2008 12:02 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

His success in railway is phenominal, and there are no two opinions about it. But he also deserves adverse commmnets about looting and spoiling Bihar like any thing. Between 1991 to 1996, the time of 15 years when most of Indian states reaped the benifits of Globalisation, Bihar was allowed to be ruined by his vested interests. When i see millions of Bihari students, job seekers and manual labourers going outside like a mass exodus.......then i do curse Lalu Yadav. The 15 years were a very long time to turn around a state like Bihar, but he deliberately didnot do that. Those who visit villages of Bihar, can actualy realise that they hardly find young generation staying in Bihar irrespective of all the castes, class and religion because of the 'push factor'. I am also a victim of the similar process.

When he realised about his misgivings to the masses in the name of social-justice, it was too late, and he was turned away from Bihar. finding no other place to show his potentials and regrets, he thought to do something good with the Railways........at the dusk hours of his political careers. His success in railways deserves praise, but that doesnot mean that people will forget his missgivings and gundaism which he spread and allowed it to stay in Bihar.

If any comments to my views, i may be contacted at manishsociologist@gmail.com.

Manish Kumar: Is there is any family planning in Bihar? Why are you trumpting for a known mafia, goonda, corrupt, nepotic leader of a rotten state? All the major cities of India fill the coffers of the nation and in return they get carrots and sticks. He has made as if it is "Jahagirdari of for Biharis" he has laid his own rail lines to his "pyaari Rabadis" village and to his village what is the need? He employes only biharis in Rail ways? Is this democracy or personal "thakurgiri", He lands helicopter on the high ways, He has amassed so much of wealth that there is no count, he is an embrassment to the very essence educated and intelligent class, he is running rail ways like his personal property. In this budget he has scheme called "Go Mumbai" well what does that mean? Means the rotten criminals will be ferreied to Mumbai with his blessings. Beware Marathis there comes another buggy with Bihari low lives.

The turnaround was actually the work of two IAS Officers from Bihar handpicked by Nitish Kumar the then Railway Minister. The fruits of their work started materialising during Lalu's time and he is taking the credit.
