Understand the data given here
by Sanjay on Feb 06, 2008 03:44 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The data given here in this article clearly states that the growth parameter is in regards to the economical growth. It means the revenue earned by means of Tax & duty & others by the goverment paid by the respective citizen and the corporates. Mumbai is offcourse the economical capital of India but its growth rate per-se last year is less than few other cities. Thats what is mentioned here. Mumbai's or Bangalore's growth rate of 10 is higher than many cities of USA. Does that mean Mumbai or Bangalore is larger & better than those US cities? So please stop mud-slinging here. Every city has its own charm. Look at those and be happy.
Mera Bharat Mahan.

Is it true
by rumi mukherjee on Feb 06, 2008 03:33 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I donot know why burdwan is listed here.I beleive there is no significant industrial growth.
Durgapur(near to burdwan) is the industrial hub. However it(Durgapur) has no significant industrial growth. You cannot combine durgapur and burdwan.
I think it is a manupulated data.

The beauty doesn't lie in the beaches. And if it is beautiful (Although it's NOT), it's no surprise to see the city missing from the list 'coz this survey includes only the growing cities in terms of GDP. And mind you, Surat is the CLEANEST city of India. Get ur facts right!

cities
by ramkrishna on Feb 06, 2008 03:28 PM  Permalink

inside city the land value andthe flat valueincreased enormously without any new points,it is because of various it , ites and BPO employment, and retail also has to be developed because of new population inside city, first of all all government should develop infrastructure in around city and go for it, ites and BPO industries, otherwise you are crowding the city and the existing things has to be shared with more people example roads and flats and so on, unncessarily increasing the value of flats and lands

how many people migrate to surat
by on on Feb 06, 2008 03:20 PM  Permalink

only bhaiyyas and poor orissa people migrate to surat in search of diamond polishing jobs. otherwise most of surat is still gujju dominated. just growth in one industry which is such an unorganzied sector full of black money like diamonds dosen't make surat no.1. in fact it should not even be in top 10.

Wrong information
by SP on Feb 06, 2008 03:17 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Rediff is giving a wrong information about the growing cities. Why the author has ignored Chandigarh, Cochin and he has included underdeveloped city Bardhman (Burdwan). I doubt how many people outside Bengal heard about this city? Those who are in acdemics must have heard about Burdwan University. Rediff should give the correct information to its readers. they should not give any information from the facts received through telephones or other medias. Before preparing such a report, the reporter could have travelled through all the major cities of India and study the growth rate with the help of local bodies.

Gurgaon is in a developing stage. This city still lacks proper drainage, garbage disposal, law and order, water supply etc. But it is a fact that in near future it will be the No.1
