It is not just Gujarat
by Anand Krish on Aug 12, 2008 12:31 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Bombay too is all Gujarati. Most of Bombay is owned by Gujaratis. They own most businesses and properties. These guys are great. Before 15 years I came with an M.Tech degree from Tamil Nadu to Mumbai. The engineering consultancy firm I worked for was promoted by a Diploma holder Gujju bhai. The company went on to employ 1200 Engineers and that Gujju gentleman sold the company to an Italian firm for Rs.2000 crore all cash.

I think we South guys should change the way we look at education. We would be better off hiring one Gujju bhai in each of our colleges instead of all these Masters and PhD's.

You are right, Anand Krish. But your initial statement - you having an MTech degree and the boss was 'only a diploma holder' - shows your arrogance that if you have a degree then you are better. This is not just you, even throughout India, this is the feeling - the more degrees you have, the more prestige! But what the hell do you do with the degrees? With your degree and two dollars, one could get a cup of coffee!! that is all! One has to have a business and entrepreneurship and the courage to take risks to succeed. The Gujaratis as a whole have it and that is why they are great business people.

Gujjus are good at business and money making only.
South Indians are best at technical education and skills, maths and subjects involving analytical knowledge. Nobody can match them in this regard.

Every South Indian should be ashamed,,,
by Anand Krish on Aug 12, 2008 12:21 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

What with our Software, BPO, Bio Tech, auto industry boom - 70% share of Engineering colleges, 50% medical colleges almost 90% literacy .. ultimately it all amounts to nothing. 2 out of top 10 . That too at 8 and 9 th rank.

Gujarathis show us the way
by Neel Reddy on Aug 11, 2008 11:30 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I congratulate Gujarathis. They do understand the relationship between good governance and healthy economy. They have the potential to lead the country into an economic superpower. The rest of the states are only interested in votebanks, populist schemes, waiver of loans, caste politics, minority appeasement etc.

Dear Gopal,
it seems you are lack of knowledge on Islam, a great religion of Peace. lets discuss, but polite way, ok. ask away any question.

Not only you but many muslim schollars also interpreted jehad as a holy war. its wrong.
Jehad is nothing but Struggle. What the terrorists doing in not jehad its pure 'terrorism', which have no place in islam.
Talk from your commonsence, if you killed any innocent, do you think killar can rewarded jannath ? how can ?

I saw a movie Mission Istanbul recently in that hero, a TV reporter asks the jihadi why he wants to fight and die. Jihadi replies that this way he will reach jannat. On being asked what is Jannat? the jihadi replies "Jannat is where one gets unlimited amount of Biryani and kebabs"

This is the actual IQ level of you guys. The world has progressed far and you folks are slipping into dark ages.

@Mustaq..Every religion and society have wrong people, wrong traditions which needs to be upgraded time to time!Devdaasi system was again a fraud in disguise of religion! But Hindus have corrected wrong practices and have seen so many changes in religious practices over 5000yrs!
But please tell me any of your scholar or even you critisizing wrong things written in Kuran?
Do you think having Houries in jannat or not practising birth control measures when society and nation demands are correct or wrong?
Please clarify!

i dont understand why politics has come into this debate. As far as Modi is concerned after the genocide that was carried out in Gujarat, he needed to do something drastic to wean away international and national attention from him, so i guess he took up this whole developmental mission. I think credit should go to the money minded Gujjus who have placed economic growth before others and made a move forward. Look at maharashtra, we have a bunch of so called sons of the soil who have brought Bombay to its knees and destroyed the cosmopolitan nature of the city.

Surat rocks!!!
by kuldip nair on Aug 11, 2008 05:37 PM  Permalink

I am a south Indian but born & brought up here... I love Gujarat, I love surat. Here people from every state are welcome. You have opportunities. We had floods last year when whole city was under water for 5 days. Total loss 25000 crores but within two months during diwali, it looked back the same city as it was.. Keep it up...
