Mean income
by Tathagatha Alerjee on Aug 13, 2008 12:02 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Dear Rediff,

Mean income is not a good criterion to measure how prosperous a city is. Median would be a lot better, I will give an example. Suppose a city has 1000 people, 1 person earns 50 crore rupees per year, other 999 people earn 20000 rupees per year then the average income will be Rs 5,19,980 per year. Clearly this is not good. Median income is still 20000 rupees. I hope you apply some brain before publishing such articles

Rediff is poor in the basics of statistics!

Besides, all this nonsense is usually published around the independence day!

The reason behind this is ..... so people feel a little happy and don't lose their temper because it is a dry day!!

modis gujrat
by susi soni on Aug 12, 2008 11:05 PM  Permalink

if you have a dedicated leader then the community will grow, to unimaginable drems, like what was done by mahiter mohamed in malaysia, we are palying with peoples poverty and exploiting their pverty and making them beggers, we should show all indians that growth should be uniform, like it is sad to note the cities like patna/ranchi/jaipur/bhopal /indore etc such a growth is detrimental to the nation, it is time rest of the nation learn from gujrat, the govt is serving the people and not that people have to be slaves of the leaders who are public worker or sevak, and above all the most sugary are the public servant who are totally untouched by the plight of the people even these servants as IAS are the new ruling rajas. India should be developing in a healthy competetion so the rulers should realise, that the aspiration of the community is more which they are failing to meet or help.that is why we see people from backward states are migarting to greener pastures abroad or to better cities, or Mumbai and are bound to be cursed. Mumbai indias greatest slum is a reslt of such a hopeless planning for the rich of mumbai only, it is time govt relocate mumbai activities to decent places like Pune/nasik/nagpur/konkan/aurangabad, mumbai should have no further invesments at all, let all the diamond business migrate/let the film industry re establish in Himachal and pune and leh. there will be no demand for mumbai, it is time they implement

Anand Krish (and using several other ids), you are a Gujju under the guise of a South Indian. Dont write rubbish comments like these and get more hatred towards your community.
It's disgusting to see people like you still exist in our country. Terrorists are better than scum like you.
