IIT intellectuals percentage is only 30% these intellectuals students when they study with 70% reservation category candidates even these 30% intellectuals capability will come down. Quality of IITians will come down drastically
The honourable president has said in her speech IIT in Mumbai. Nowhere she said IIT Bombay. I congratulate her for that Further I suggest that the honourable president change the name from IIT Bombay to IIT Mumbai Gopal Chaphekar Alumnus IIT Mumbai

Gopal, Which batch you are from? Please don't spoil the name of IIT. It is idiots like you who are responsible for tarnishing the image of IIT. If you have to do the hate politics, do it but do not spoil the name that too by associating the name of my beloved institute.

Name-game brigade casts eye on IITs - Plan to replace Bombay & Madras labels CHARU SUDAN KASTURI New Delhi, Dec. 21: The whim that led Indian politicians to rename some of the country’s biggest cities may finally have caught the IITs in its grip.
India is planning to rename IIT Bombay and IIT Madras half a century after they were started, under amendments to the Indian Institute of Technology Act proposed by the UPA government.
If the amendments are approved by Parliament in their present state, the institutes will soon be called IIT Mumbai and IIT Chennai.

Right at the onset I want to make it very clear that change of name has nothing to do with politics This is nothing but change from wrong pronounciation by british to the right name ,named after goddess Mumbadevi. I shall not like to respond to those who are writing under nicknames by concealing their identity Also there is no point in responding to those using unparliamentary language Yes I did join IIT Mumbai in 1974 The entrance was through an entrance examination followed by an interview It was not by just showing mark sheet( I may add that I passed my graduation in chemical engineering from another well known institute in Mumbai viz UDCT (now UICT) Mumbai). When I was in IIT Mumbai emergency was declared in 1975 and IIT Mumbai came out with its own 20 point programme. IIT Mubai displayed big notices that ragging is an offence under emergency I am reminded of a famous quote, they were asked to bend and they chose to crawl. The great students of IIT Mumbai who indulged in ragging were then moving around like cowards with not a murmur against emergency .. I know for well friends that your great institution is known for ragging which is an offence under Indian Penal code and also for tremendous copying which is also an offence under IPC I shall suggest that IIT Mumbai apologise to the nation for supporting emenrgency and all those IITians who have indulged in ragging and copying ,apologise for the same to purify their souls when IIT is celebrating 50 years I know fact

Sure you must have been a real dumb student in M. Tech. That is why probably you were ragged so hard that even after 30 years you still crib about ragging. Also if you have so much problem with IIT, you could have left IIT. Instead you preferred to complete post graduation from there, get a nice job worked for 30 years an now probably you got some self confidence so you hid behind your computer and criticize an institute which at the first place was never made for a moron like you.

lol. I did some research on you. I was surprised how IIT can produce such an idiot. To my utter satisfaction, you did M Tech from IIT B (not B Tech) that too way back in 1975 when every Tom Dick and Harry got into IIT M Tech just by showing the Mark Sheet. Well at least now I hope that in 33 years since passing out you should get some lesson in life.

Dear Gopal Matka, Look who is talking about grace of IIT.l I will call you an idiot ten times even on your face. Indeed your mentality which divides people based upon region shows your mental level. Also on one hand you claim to have done engineering from a local college, at the same time you say you didn't take admission at IIT even though you got selected. How funny. People with as sick mentality as you really don't have IT factor to get into IIT and they will be frustated for their whole life. Dude get a life. You must be over 50 now, so live peacefully in your cave. No point in cribbing because you couldn't make into IIT 30 years back. And please do not ever criticize / politicize IIT. Mix your politics to your local unknown college, rename it to Raj Thackray college or whatever.
She always speaks rubbish, suffering from senile dementia. She has done blunders on foreign trips. We can't help it because congress is full of criminals and corrupt politicians. Pratibha Patil has to be behind the bars for duping crores of rupees of cooperative bank and common man. For the same crime some of the directors of cooperative banks of Hyderabad and AP are behind bars wheras pratibha . . . .? congress It is shame to have a criminal at the top post of our country
Prathiba Patil has considerably lowered the dignity of the President by repeatedly talking rubbish. Of course, India suffers from one of the worst infrastructures in the world. However, the problem is not the engineering solutions. The technical and engineering solutions were available even before any IIT was set up. The basic issue relates to corruption which plagues our political and bureaucratic class. More money is spent in erecting statues than in flood control measures. The best thing that Pratibha Patil can do is to resign and go away.If she shamelessly wants to continue as President, the least she can do is avoid giving lectures to students who are getting their degree by their efforts and not by bribing someone.
what a precedence , after Kalam we got Pratibha patel as President. Does she know full form of IIT I sincerely fear instead after MMS , mayawati (not advani /mms) will become PM . I am planning to migrate to UGANADA

If she is so serious about Indian public, why can,t she insist the Govt to open up more institutions like IIT and let the country floris. Thes politician, on one hand HRD doesn,t want to give grant to already exited IIM and she want more output from IIT.

And dude, I used the word UGANDA as a metaphor ,
The admission procedure of IIT is skewed and along with huge reservations it does not necessarily get the best students. you find hundreds of coaching institutes specialising in IIT crack test and most of the student do not attend school classes for 11th and 12 th. The emphasis is on crackig IIT entrance and not the entire syllabus. In turn those who are regular and good performers in boards are not the one getting into IIT. IIT must review the test pattern to ensure best talent is chosen. in case of reservation for SC , ST and OBC it shall be much better to go for children belonging to economically weaker section than to go by caste. Finally in the entire curriculam of IIT where is the importance of nation building. could we not develop cheaper and affordable solar lanterns, solar pumps, wind mills, non gasoline fuel for transportation and also vehicles to run on such fuel. A thorough overhaul of admission system along with scientific talent building system should replace the present admission system of IIT.

iit entrance is to be there , but they should take people who have scored more than 90% in tenth in science and maths and 80 in english to further understand the subjects, entrance exam has tobe there but hyderbad and kota like not necessary , after 10th you can study for two years provided you have enough marks in tenth and also after entrance exam , they should value also 2 marks, cbse english medium students are far better than state board , because they lack communications and also they wont understand the IIT methodology of teaching, one more year they have spend in IIT to understand and to pick up the subjects, self study is lacking in state boards and also mugging will not work out, and understanding the subjects also in english is very important,
