I don't know from where the driver can see the road, so he's gonna run into another vehicle. or probably there's a periscope fitted but anyways our truck drivers will never spot and will run over these as speed breakers. Chalo maan liya the driver manages to dodge the trucks, but after 180 KM he will surely die looking at the way he's packed in the car. Hey that coffin design is PERFECT. Thumbs up!! hahaha
This looks ugly. Coffins look better than this. Don't waste the resources and time in creating some junk. Indian trucks will run over this Coffin car and the driver wouldn't even know.

Right. Its easy to comment guys. Appreciate the effort and the thoughts they have pulled in to be innovative and creative. Thats how a nation grows.Charity begins at home, appreciate and cheer them as we move to generation next where you survive on your creativity.

The point is that these students have not done their homework properly. And I am sure their crappy professor as well.
They have used a Honda engine and fitted it on a bicycle. So what is the innovation here?
On the contrary we have just proved that we Indians are never capable of innovation. We are only capable of copying from others.
I know you will say I am being harsh. But there are college kids about 20 years of age. When Bill Gates came up with his Microsoft product he was 20. So we should not just pat them on the back as if they are kids. Tell them that this is just the beginning. The world is not going to buy anything just because some college kids have designed something.
Also the fact that they did in 4 months shows they wanted to complete their B.E. project probably. Without vision and planning, you cannot just go and innovate whatever you have in mind.
The information is this report is wrong. Delhi College of Engineering had already developed a Supermileage vehicle back in 2005! And guys...it looks damn neat. And it also won the best design award at SAE event.
It looks like a car..not rickshaw as this one! dce.ac.in / research / projects / supermileage (remove the spaces after /)
I was laughing at this for the last 30 mins...hahaha..my stomach is paining..still cant control..hahaaha..the guys also look funnier..also check the video its the most funny part with music..hahahahahaha..thank rediff for posting this..
Remindes me of the movie "Jane bhi do yaaro"; where they put wheels on Satish Shah's coffine. This car (in this state)should not be launched in India and especially in Delhi. Humare dilli ke Jat bus driver is car ko pichkan dalenge.

You are the biggest joke Alpha. Cant encourage.Fine ..sit quiet..Dont discourage the great efforts of these guys.
Jaane bhi dhon yaaron... Let it go.. Dont criticize others when you havent even achieved 10% of what they could. YOu build a better car which will give say 181 kmpl and then talk dear.
Till then you and me (both non achievers in automobile field) can give credit to these geniuses of India and clap for them and say WOW !!

Alpha, it is very easy to laugh. It is very difficult to actually build something. Do you think you are the only intelligent guy on the planet who can see that this car is not going to be very practical? Does it not strike you that people smart enough and creative enough to build this could also see the same flaw? If they still built it anyway, it is very likely because they are not trying to create a consumer product just yet. As the saying goes, Rome (or anything worthwhile) is not built in a day. You go through multiple versions, focusing on different elements of the product in different cycles. All they have done with their very limited budget is to build a proof of concept. With the right kind of backing and budget, they will go on to build better things. The future of these guys is very very bright and hats off to them for their creativity and determination.
As for you, keep laughing. You may not realise it but the joke is very much on you.

Take is easy dude, you seem to be very stuck up in life... no matter on whom the joke is its worth laughing!!
Great work guys. Todays Indians are usually non-innovative and can only memorize theories written by others in the text book. When we become innovative we are already ahead from everybody.
But remember, Indians are resistant to change and Indian creation. So may face critics.
It talks about everything being bought and assembled and someone says that they didn't want to borrow any concept. There was another such pathetic report in rediff about a car that runs 200 kmpl developed by an engg college in Punjab. That is now lost into oblivion.

Innovations should be welcomed and encouraged. That's how it leads to betterment, otherwise with your attitude we will end up being a followers and consumers.

Pathetic report, eh? So what is your idea of innovation? Did you want these guys to invent the entire automobile concept from scratch - build their own combustion engine, their own braking systems, their own gears, everything? Would you have them attempt to recreate 100 years of automobile innovation in a 4 yr stint at college? Is that reasonable or ridiculous?
That would not be innovation - that would be duplication and a waste of resources. Or as the idiom goes, that would be reinventing the wheel.
Innovation is all about imaginative reworking of the existing to create possibilities that are themselves new. The components that these guys have used may be existing - but 180 km mileage is new. That deserves respect.
Guys.. Really great.. Always achievers face some critics. Dont worry of these critics. All the bet and proceed further to achieve 500 kmpl. Cheers.....Garuda ?? Whats the exact reason behind this name ?? Also the car is like an inverted boat.... All the best..
