What a joke!

Is this a car or a bullock cart? This engineering college in Bangalore must be worst in Karanataka which already has a very bad reputation for donation colleges. These students are worse than 'thela walas'.

For 500km, use vegetable-oil blended petroleum..DONE!
by Indiaman1 on Aug 07, 2008 08:48 PM  Permalink

No doubt the mileage is great, and kudos to the team for that! But the article fails to mention anything about the maximum speed, the maneuverability and safety. Would this "coffin" survive an impact? What if the "bicycle" tyres burst??!! Would it just go and crash on anything thats around?? Can it be driven on roads? Can the bicycle tyres survive potholes?? What if there is a gust of wind? The car is so light-weight, it would shake in the wind at higher speeds and go off-course easily!! Mileage is not the only thing to consider!! Add in a proper tyre, a better engine for speed, and a little bit of safety features and the mileage will drop DRASTICALLY! The car would essentially become a TATA Nano!!

Also, this car isnt based on any novel technology, only the assembly is different. They have used everything already available in market, and just cobbled everything together. The whole idea behind the assembly seems to be making the car light-weight and using a low power engine. This is good for a college engineering project in India, but not anything more. So I dont understand why the hue and cry. Anyone can basically get this done in his own garage.

why spend time on it
by debarshi on Aug 07, 2008 08:45 PM  Permalink

A British inventor,Andy Green, has created in 2006 a car he claims is the world's most fuel efficient - capable of doing 2,861 kilometres to the litre. The car, named "TeamGreen", is 3.1 metres long and a mere 0.6 metres wide, weighing just 30 kilograms.Mr Green's car is powered by a single cylinder four-stroke engine with a capacity of just 35 cc.

the above finding just shows there are already people who worked on similar fields and with a 35 cc engine can reach upto 2861 kmpl...forget abt how much weight can it carry?? why dont these guys do something more unique ?
