"By about December 2009, India may get broadband-type internet speeds on mobile phones. That, in turn, will allow users to view movies on their mobile phones, conduct video telephony while on the move, and so on." All this is really very exciting. But what @ the battery life? We need to charge mobile batteries almost on daily basis. It seems the battery technology is not keeping a pace with mobile technologies.

Many countries have it already - you are talking like India is pioneering something. We are supposed to be leaders in IT and telecommunications, 3G is long overdue.

The facility is there of course but hardly anyone makes video calls. It is a nice to have. In most countries, video calls and voice calls cost exactly the same. The fun about 3G is more in getting internet, email, pushmail and so on. Video calls are very rare unless you specifically want to show something to someone.

Wow, u have innovative thoughts. too good. Were u involved in DPS scam? Do u regret it and want to stop others from doing so? good job buddy. But we cant stop sending kids to schools after hearing something what people like u do. U dirty mind shud be expelled from all institutions u belong to including ur family.
Only frustrated people will do that. And frustrated people will think of such things. If someone wants to be an exhibitionist, even today a video MMS is possible!

I am sure we will get 3.5G, though they talk of 3G. There is no difference in the infrastructure as such. Japanese 4G is really fantastic - you can watch your Saas-Bahu drama while traveling from VT to Kalyan, but I think the worldwide standards are not yet set
The progressive policies of various South Asian countries make communication a pleasant experience for people. As a Sri Lankan I am proud of the new revolution in communication.
Sri Lanka started commercial 3G services in 2006 itself. SL was also the first in South Asia to provide GSM in 1995.
