????????
by venkat on Apr 30, 2008 09:43 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

He got loans from Banks because he was from IIM. If he is from BITs & IIM he should plan so that there would be no loss. He is getting losses worth lakhs of rupees & still can sustain the business.

My sely & my friend are doing business. I am working in another company & supporting the capital required for that business.

Generally Mess or cafeteria contracts are given by Tender methods and mostly ones experience is counted. How come this guy is getting contracts ? Is he winning them in Tendor.
I am not doubting his morality but How ?

I think instead of saying luck was attracted to him ,it is that-he attracted luck towards him.
Management is all about this.

Get a good product that fits the tender directive and at right price, guarantee the delivery and you should also get the contract.
You bankers should be ready to back you all the way to first delivery and payment.
TRY IT.
I do it and I am sure you can do it as well although my work is not in food industry and the competition is much less compared food industry.

PM's sermons to Industry chiefs blaming them for inflation and to lead simple life
by Secular India on Apr 30, 2008 09:12 AM  Permalink

This is more a political statement than anything useful. Prices of essential goods like rice and vegetables is not happening because the rich and the famous have decided to have three-four more helpings of these goods. In fact - the rich are not consumers of goods that cause inflation. In fact - high corporate salaries stimulates economy because the rich guy will spend on services which give employment to more people. Such moral posturing with no economic basis only reduces ones respect for Dr Manmohan Singh. The businessmen do business with rationality in mind and do not need lectures from politicians on how to run them. I guess the politicians should do their jobs properly.

A corepati who lives in hut
by Viraf Mehta on Apr 30, 2008 05:24 AM  Permalink

Bravo Sarathbabu. I salute your vision perseverance and your values. You get a lot of credit for all that you have achieved in life. However, it is your mother who should be complemented for ingraining in you a sprit of enterprise, humility and a concern for fellow human beings.

May you prosper and may God bless you.

This is an inspriring story and others below have said enough about and I'll not hark on it. Here're some bullet points about Sarathbabu's story.
1. We Indian's are an elitist society. Sarathbabu would never have made it so big if he had not gone to Pilani or IIM. He's not have got the loans to launch his incredible enterprise. That is a fundamental problem in India where elitism (in education and birth) are given more importance than the drive and talent that a human being has.
2. Mr. Sarathbabu should understand that by staying in a hut, he's not helping the economy of the country. He buys a new house, money flows and he generates some more employment. In a market economy, you are a patriot if you spend money in your country. Even (actually preferably) borrow and spend money. He needs to unlearn that lesson from his mother. He can spend money and yet be a humble person.

Haa kids kids kids. Here is some tip to help your calculations:
- every citizen is a liability on the land.
- forget the currency people have in bank or hand.
- the more you consume the more liability you are. So palace, car, jet, spendings are forms of consumptions on the land.
- the less you consume the more is left for other people. (i.e. inflation will remain low - if you still want to think in terms of money)
- the less you consume slowly and surely the less your needs will become. And the less your needs become, the more satisfied you are.

helped?
