The govt took so much time to reduce the duty on edibile oils.It could have been adjusted in the budget itself looking into the international prices.Steel & cement duty could have been adjusted.
Why the Finance Minister is not cutting the Excise Duty in Iron & Steel Materials, when the Basic price of Raw Materials as well as the finished has increase by 50 %. The revenue by means of Excise Duty from Iron & Steel products is nearly doubled due to increase in price by 50%. So the cut in excise duty to 8 % has to be implemented. for e.g previously before 3 to 4 months, when the Basic price was Rs.20000/= Per M.T, then reveue ( @ 16 % ) was Rs.3200/= Per M.T from this products. Now the Basic Price has gone to Rs.35000/= Per M.T, then revenue (@ 14 % ) is Rs.4900/= Per M.T. One can judge the increase in revenue to the Government by means of increase in Basic price of Iron & Steel Mataerials. Still, the Primary & Secondary Manufacturer's are going to increase their Prices of Finished products by further 10 %. One can imagine the this burden in increase in prices of Iron & Steel will ruin the Indian Industries, Infrastructre development. Some Brakes are required to control this heavy price rise. Awake Mr.Finance Minister.
When ever there is a problem, we blame others. If anything good happens we say it is all because of our efforts. In last few years we were having huge economic growth. Indians are more respected and admired by others. We have started to become big thinkers. We are acquiring businesses worldwide. Indians are in helm of top companies in the world. Our standard of living is improving. Suddenly when there is a problem we started pointing our fingers towards our government.
We should understand that the price increase is caused by the increasing cost of fuel, increasing costs of raw materials, poor harvests and more global demand for food. This is one thing faced by most countries in the world.
Sure, India will overcome this issue, since we have the potential to do so. But let us be united and work towards our goal. Which ever is the party is ruling there will be issues. Let us not blame completely on our PM and FM for this. I am sure they will continue taking steps to improve the situation.

The Govt is expected to be pro-active. But they reacted only after the sh** hit the roof. After all the failure of the harvests did not happen all of a sudden.
The sitution was within control by Nov/Dec 2007. think the latest budget and the kudoes to FM, Demands from the UPA high command in the face of ensuing elections, worsening financial situation in US, all these made FM & PM forget the aam admi and his essential commodities' price lines.
RE:What is a situation of Price Rise in China

china too is trying hard to contain the inflation. though compared to their growth, their inflation is not so bad.
in the eighties and nineties they have very high inflation. that's why they are where they are.
CM of Delhi Shiela Dixit says, in a booming economy the prices of Daily Conusmer Goods tend to rise. I wonder how a public representative of the state can put such words publicaly (Published in Times of India, front page).
I wonder who the hell would want a booming economy when one cannot even afford a good meal 3 times a day. I don't want big malls and buildings and cars. The Finance minister did cut prices of vehicles, but doesn't even promises to work on the fuel price increases.
I don't know if we can even work on these issues except writing on messege boards and the good media putting in things as and when they are without analysing the consequencies.
