quota and reservations are NEED in USA. how come had go the job. Unfortunate that caste system (dalitism, brahminism ) was practiced locally and learnt from the native dravids who now act innocent about it.

Give this guy some time and he may very much be able to do what's he's seaking abt. BTW, I'm too an Indian, so plzzzz rediff community, don't jump n label me as an American. :)

Long way to go!
by shiva on Apr 11, 2008 05:30 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Whoever gave us life in this place, what we call a planet under the sun, has seen to it that we can survive! We only invent reasons to finish off one another including fellow creatures!

We were given hydro-carbon, not as an end in itself, but as a starter. We are going at it with a vengeance wrecking havoc! China & India say, "you did have a good time, did'nt you? it is our turn now, we are going to have a ball" US seems to be more busy with elections than clean energy etc. Bush is looking forward to join his mama & papa in the ranch!

Despite the best scientists that we have, we are unable to crack many puzzles. The most exciting could be energy. If we can harness sun's endless free supplies, we can live forever on the renewables. If we can tap a small portion of the bountiful supplies, we have made it! Even the photovoltaic cells, panels etc are from silicon which is made from sand. Why worry about these as we are blessed?

The puzzle will be cracked soon and we can go for a comfortable life of leisure or work! Of course, are we willing to let others live? Don't bet on it, but like in filmy dunia let the good prevail!

I wish the very best for our NRI professor & others grappling with solving all these problems. Whoever, makes pioneering discoveries, I bow my head in appreciation. At least, their efforts can benefit all, especially the future generation. They may have to clean up some filth left over by us both physical & mantal!

There are lot of Ramar Pillais in USA.
It is just that USA's Ramar Pillais comes clean shaven, wears suits and have glib talks.

But underneath what you see is just another Ramar Pillai.

electricity from home chullas
by rajendra hegde on Apr 11, 2008 10:16 AM  Permalink

I salute U Dr Majumdarfor trying to convert the wastge of heat energy in to electricity for the benefit of mankind. It will definately aid in bringing down the green house effect also as wastage of heat is prevented. These kinds of innovations are the hope for our future although it looks not eassily possible at present. All big innovations started like this and because of the efforts of scientists only we r living a life of great comforts and newer sources of employment and income generation. I salute u once again dr majumdar. May god bless U with all the good tghings.

SOORY BUT THE FACT IS THIS WILL NOT WORK OUT THE ECONOMICS IS AGAINST YOU MR.SCIENTIST
by Mangesh Desai on Apr 11, 2008 10:15 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

SCIENTIST HAVE BRAINS BUT THEY LACK WHAT IS CALLED ECONOMICS OF VIABILITY ..
AS NOTHING WILL STAY OR BE SUCCESSFUL IF IT LACKS THE VIABILITY FOR USE..

FOR INSTANCE THE CHULHA OR THE STOVE...
1.BEING A SCIENTIST I CAN TELL THOSE USING A CHULHA WILL NOT BE INTERESTED IN HARNESSING ELECTRICITY FROM A CHULHA??? A BIG QUESTION.

2. THE TECHNOLOGY IS STILL AVAILABLE: ALL MUST HAVE SEEN THAT THIS TECHNOLOGY IS STILL USED IN SOME PARTS OF INDIA TO HEAT WATER AT A VERY LOW COST OR FREE??? BUT HOW MANY US DO USE THAT TECHNOLOGY... IT DOES NOT REQUIRE GREAT BRAINS TO UNDERSTAND THAT TECH BUT STILL IT WAS NOT VIABLE...SO FAILED COMPLETELY

3.HOW MANY OF INDIAN USE HEATING TO STAY WARM IN THIER HOMES??? A BIG QUESTION EVEN IN KASMIR HEATERS ARE NOT USED.

4.RUSSIAN TECHNOLGY TO STAY WARM IN BELOW ZERO TEMPERATURE IS THE MOST SUSSECCFUL AND AHEAD OF THE US AND EUROPEAN TECH, THEY USE STEAM SUPPLIED TO ALL HOMES SAME WAY AS DRINKING WATER AND THE SUCCESS WITH THIS SYSTEM IS 100% IT HAS NEVER FAILED AS IT USES WATER HEATED AT A COMMON LOCATION AND SUPPLIED TO ALL HOMES...

MR ARUN MAJMUDAR MUST UNDERSTAN THE BASICS OF THE USE OF A PARTICULAR TECHNOLOGY THAN MERELY INVENTING IT.

IF ALL OF YOU REMEMBER: THE US WHEN WANTED TO SEND HUMAN IN SPACE INVENTED THE GREAT PEN HAVING THE FOLLOWING CHARATERISTICS:
1.CAN WRITE IN SPACE
2.WILL WRITE IN ALL ENVIRONMENT CONDITION EVEN AT -400 DEG CETIGRADE TO 400 DEG CETIGRADE
3. CAN WRITE UPSIDE DOWN.
4.CAN WRITE ON ANY SURFACE.
ETC E

dude. Why dont you stop being cynical and support some good causes like these happening around the world. Its really hard for me to fathom that a person like you who calls himself scientist can be so foolhardy and negative in your aproach. The attitude you have shown is the reason why our country still has a long way to go in terms of R and D inspite of having all the right brains. Please start looking at the brighter side of life!!!!Wake up to the new world order.

If everyone thinks like this we would still be travelling by bullock carts.
Economics usually evolve after a discovery. While discovering scientist may not have the idea where and all it can be used.

There was a quote by a scientist: Whatever needs to be discovered is already discovered. This was when electricity was not discovered.

Dear Mr. Vijay
wait and see..

after 20 to 25 years we will not have anything to burn... then chulha and electricity...
every invention should have a direction and a base on which it stands...

Mr.Mangesh desai. What makes you think that you are a scientist. Can you replicate the russian experience in Indian villages that are spread far and wide. You say that there will be nothing to burn after 25 years. So should we stop developing technology to use the fuel more efficiently.
I would be very intersted if I could run my A/c on a gas or a stove. It would be cheaper than the power we get.
If you remember once refrigerators were running on spirit lamps.Where there is no power available then this technology would be viable and usefull.
To say that people will not use the technology is an idiotic Statement.
30-40 years back villagers did not have the means nor the information to buy the product. Some products were simply not available. Now the products are available but power is not.Mr Mazumdar is doing an excellent job. And I seriously have doubts on your qualifications. While Mr.Mazumdar is at his job you can go to Russia and study their technology.

Innovations are needed in todays world. In India our govt doesnt give enough funds for research. When a person from our country has gone abroad to get research facilities and is trying to invent something for people. You talk like shit. If every researcher or inventor thought like you, you wouldnt even had a computer to type this message here....
