Third World citizends dont get Good treatment
by NASAman on Apr 14, 2008 11:27 AM  Permalink

Its amazing and encouraging news to see that Indian visa processing getting easier. This would benefit several thousands of indians as well as US citizens to get a visa quickly. No waiting in long queues, no tension, lesser anxiety, etc. I think Indians also deserve the same treatement when they apply for a US visa. Sadly thats not the case, simply because these countries make procedures simple only for thier citizens and other developed nations, and make things out of reach for developing nations. Thats one major reason why its easier for a US citizen or any European/UK visa holder to move to other countries. Whereas for an Indian, or any south east asian things are pretty difficult.
Ofcourse these countries are afraid that if too many people immigate the locals would lose jobs, because of wage disparity. This is totally against the modern philosophies of globalization. Also to combat this Asian countries like Singapore, malaysia, India, pakistan, china, and others should have a simple visitor pass system for asian citizens so that travelling within asian network becomes easier and convenient. When English countries can simplify their systems for their convenience - we are fools to have so many procedures - instead we should have free mobility like how it happens in Europe - where most people have travelled 4-5 countries and also get entry in to UK and to US and virtually anywhere across the globe.

Indian govt's inability
by Ramesh M on Apr 11, 2008 03:31 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This clearly demonstrates the Indian government's inability to handle anything related to business or work efficiently at home and abroad. It is pathetic. Outsourcing is the only way to improve efficiency and accountability. Indian govt. should not be running any business on its own.

You are right... do you expect efficiency from people who get jobs because of 15% SC / 7.5% ST 27% OBC RULE? ....

The faster we get over it....the earlier we will be able to build our nation.

for your information Indian govt is not the first to think up of this. US consulates in India have been doing this for many years now. are they inefficient just as Indians in this matter because they outsource their visa processing too? it is simply a matter of saving time and money by increasing productivity.

Just look at the number of visas applied and issued. While India is making the process so easy for US citizens just compare it the way Indians getting US visa

A point in question to your allegation is How come United States with so much of infrastructure cannot throw out all the overstaying people. And answer to second point is it goes in all legal channels and no one can stop it.

Julie, I do not think your point is valid on this discussion. Just because some are overstaying, you can't make the process messier. But for one, i do not believe that US consulate process is messy. But some of their staffs are a bit blunt. I won't call it rude though.

Just coz Americans dont overstay and some Indians do....doesnt give them any right to be rude(which some dont agree with) and condescending(which everyone will agree with)...

Besides, apart from the people who travel for "overstaying", there are lots of people who the Americans want to stay over(read MS students/PHD students from engineering/other colleges)...why be rude to them....ya u can be selective in who u give a visa...not a reason to justify impoliteness....

Besides as for americans overstaying...well they hv done that in Afghanistan and Iraq......
and they are lootign all the iraq's oil....

guess tht means we shld be rude to them too right Ms Julie?
