What is the basic problem of price rise
by Shibu Thompson on Apr 10, 2008 07:40 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

None of the political party in India is not analysing the real problem. Today 75% farmers are Quiting the agri sector. Today if a farmer goes as a labour for civil work, Then he may ger Rs 350 as wages per day. If he work in his agri field, he has to take a lot of risk like water shortage, monsoon problem etc. Finally if you see the result, he will be in heavy loss then he goes for suside. Then how the farmer will sustain. All the politicians dont know the problem of the farmer. They simply loot up the money in the name of farm subsidy.

This is bound to happen, all the successive governments just ignored farmers and agri research boasting on the green revolution which took place decades ago.
Now the ordinary people are paying the price for this

Food crisis
by Surender Sharma on Apr 10, 2008 07:31 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is bound to happen. Soon the effect of government sponsored land grabbing scams like SEZs will be visible to everyone. The sheer madness at which the state governments are grabbing the highly fertile land and giving to corporate houses for free is going to crush the middle class and poor people. The fertile land which was feeding the community with rice, wheat etc. is now covered with concrete. High rise structures which are fulfiling the demands of rich and famous are being eracted here and there. Look at NOIDA land deal, 95 acres land was sold out for Rs. 5000 crores. Now the BPTP will come up with corporate convention centre, hotel, shopping mall etc. where rich and spoiled brats will come and hang around whereas the landless farmer will be watching helplessly. The same land which was feeding community will now become hot bed of commercial activities. It is all madness. No one is thinking that from where the food and grains will come. Will these call centres or big housing socities will be able to feed people. The farmers are committing suicides and our agriculture minister is busy in making money at IPL. He is talking about importing wheat at US$ 500 per tonne but is not ready to raise the wheat price at home. It is all madness and unfortunately people like us have no other way to express our anger.

100 % Right !! What can you expect from a party whose high commission is an alien ( read foreigner ) ? Why should she care about this country which is not even her own? She is only staying here because she will not be given an iota of importance in her own country. The congress party and cronies of the UPA will do anything to stay in power. They are not bothered about anything or anybody at the grass root levels of the country. Every time the Congress has come to power it has led the country into a sorry state of affairs. It is a trend/ known fact that that cost of living increases under Congress rule.
"Democracy is a tyranny of the minorities". stands true in the case of our country. We have PM who is Sikh, a remote control controlling him (sonia gandhi) who is a Christian and her principle secretary who influences her decisions Ahmed Patel a Muslim. We are living under the tyranny of these people. !!!

Mr. Sharma, you have hit the nail on the head!! Even when SEZs were just beginning by displacing farmers from agricultural lands, I used to argue a lot with companions about the short sightedness and stupidity of such a move. Many farmers themselves will sell land to earn a fast buck but that is not the point. the point is our politicians in their greed for real estate, money, have lost their capacity to think for the future and we are going to suffer for it.

Spurt in food prices can seriously hurt us: Manmohan
by Hebbar R on Apr 10, 2008 07:10 PM  Permalink

When will these bigwigs of economics stop looking at the macro-level and start looking at the micro level. 8% or 80% growth in the economy is of consequence to a person who is unable to make end meet. Nor, to the scores of farmers who are committing suicides.

The PM has made some good comments as mentioned in the last para of this news post. But, pray what has his Govt done to implement these very suggestions? Contrary to his own suggestion, his Govt has only doled out a Loan waiver but done nothing to improve the income of the farmers.

This gentleman P.M of India simply does the talking. Neither the puppet himself nor his State CMs follow what this preacher says ! On one hand these guys have crippled the middle class in India by the unsurmounting commodity prices and on the other hand they are offering 60,000 crore subsidies and 2Rs a kg Rice which is nothing but an election ploy.If they are so concerned about people with the same mind set they can control the rising prices.
Stop fooling around yourself ,sick of your madam's rule!
