It is a political gimmick
by Harish on Apr 10, 2008 11:03 AM  Permalink

Raj Thakre is an unscruplous thug whose sole criteria is only to raise hatred in the state to boiling point and this solely for his political purposes. he was a failed politician who got thrown out of shiv sena and thats the reason he is trying such tricks. What has been his personal contribution to Maharashtras welfare and development? What has he done to provide Maharashtrian youth better education/vocation? In any case why do Maharashtrian youth require reservations in their own state and why are they scared to compete fairly? Why do employers prefer 'bhaiyyas'? Answers to such questions must be looked into rather than trying to stiffle industries by lading them with incompetent workers

Favoritism jeopardizes economic growth
by prasheel anand on Apr 10, 2008 11:02 AM  Permalink

In a country where diversity paves for the way for creating a favorable economy, a conservative approach such as this could hamper a substantial amount of business deals in Mumbai, still considered to be the commercial capital of India.

Reservations for locals
by Ananthakrishnan Punnai on Apr 10, 2008 11:02 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

All political parties promoting the 'Bhoomiputra' concept should realise that Maharashtra and Mumbai are what it is today, not because of Maharashtrians but because of entreprenuers of other states setting up units here. As such, talk of bhoomiputra should be nipped in bud and the persons promoting these silly things should be straightaway arrested or boycotted by other parties. Enough of divisive politics in our beautiful country.

Job quotas - tradition keeps going
by vlan on Apr 10, 2008 11:01 AM  Permalink

We have job quotas based on religion, caste, and gender. We have quotas in education, govt and public sectors.

Last year the ruling govt asked for quota in private sector too.

Now it is getting extended to statewise also. It is just one more small extension to existing quota as a whole.

So what's wrong !!! Let it continue for a GREAT India tomorrow.

The politicians made it and let the tradition continue.

Happy QUOTA'ing !!!

Who is a Maharastrian? Are you Indian First?
by AswathaKumar Kamale on Apr 10, 2008 10:59 AM  Permalink

Has any one given an identity tag to all Maharastrians. Raj Thackery should sincerely start this at his own expense complete the oprocess before next elections. Then I will call him a true Maharastrian. He can take the help of his clan and other sainiks.

Cultures and crisis due to various reasons has forced people to move from one location to another.
Being Indian is important than being Maharastrian.
