80%
by Jay on Apr 10, 2008 12:17 PM  Permalink

I have 5 kids. Eldest being Ali and the remainder are Shahji, Shivaji, Sambhaji and Shahu. I am glad I met the 80% quota!
By God's grace the male:female ratio is good or else everybody would be asked to marry a marathi girl. All this is because marathi speaking people are highly incompetent. Let's kick out all the non kanadigas from Bangalore and then what do we have? IT hub has been moved to Andaman!

Maharashtrains Still Live In The Peshwa Era
by Dexter C. Figg on Apr 10, 2008 12:16 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Maharashtrains don't work!!!! That is the simple truth. Ask any one employing Maharashtrains, They will not work and if they are rebuked by the employer, out pop their politician godfathers or the local gundas (if there is any difference) They rely on their unions if they are forced to earn their living. They want to be spoon fed!

You are right when it comes to govt. servents. Otherwise no indurrialist would have started businessess in Maharashtra. Maharastrians get exploited by all business communities - whether industry workers or traders of agriculture produce. Go to villages and find out how Maharastrians work hard. If non- maharastrians are hard working why their states are under developed. Are non Maharastrians comming to Maharashtra to do charity of development?

First of all i would like to ask that have you heard of any word known as "HISTORY"because you are such a foolish guy that you even don't know that It was Britishers who identified the importance of this city which was 200 years back nothing other than a "machhi" market. Even the Britishers knew that you people are so foolish that you don't even to know how to sell a fish in an organised way. Only Bad Luck of this country is that a great place like Mumbai falls in such a rubbish, useless, worthless place. It was Gujjus from whom you heard what is Business

sons of soil theory is complete nonsense - not even Marathi businessmen will implement it
by Secular India on Apr 10, 2008 12:16 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

what is meant by first right ? The UP /Biharis are doing no one else does ( taxi, auto, secuirty guards, construction workers )and that is why they are demand everywhere including Marathi industrialists ( if there are any ) .

Extending the logic - Also why can't it be a rule that only a son of the soil can run a company so that Ambani's go back to Gujarat, Mittals to UP/Rajasthan, Tatas to Persia and so on. Hindi movies can have only actors whose mother tongue is Hindi/Urdu - Gowarikar makes only Marathi movies and so on - and shooting done only in Hindi speaking states. You mean to say brokerage houses must sack all gujarati fund managers and replace them with Marathis ? or TCS hires only Marathi engineers even if they can't write a line of code.

Actually Marathi people are not against the outsiders but this dirty dog (Raj Thakrey) is in the mood of breaking the silence of Maharastra.
India need some hard steps if we want to be developed country. We should learn from China that do not compromise with its National Integrity.
Probably we are facing the worse side of Democracy

if you have ever worked in a company in Bombay - you will realize how difficult it is to get any security guard for that matter. About taxis - perhaps you may have better data than I have. However - 80% job reservations is not about Taxi drivers - it is for software engineers , fund managers , security traders , sales men, doctors , civil engineers, mechanical engineers , skilled labour( lathe workers, carpenters , fitters, turners ) and the like where you realise anyone less than the best ruins the business completely.

As per my post above. The north indians that are being targeted are all 'SELF EMPLOYEED" or daily wage workers. They are not a weight on the economy. And they are not taking anyone elses job opportunity. Labour is something that gives the Marathi an itch. They even come out of their houses wearing white. Do you think they intend to get their clothes dirty?

These "self-employed" hindi migrants do illegal activities in Mumbai

*build slums, encroach on public lands and eventually get free flats

*hawking/vending without licenses and clogging roads

*driving 15-20 yr old taxis/autos without legal permits and bring traffic congestion (permits have been frozen since 1997)

*POLITICS (attending rallies of Abu Azmi, Mulayam singh, Amar Singh, Laloo Yadav) and forming vote-banks to grab power.

Jobs on merits only
by Saranga Rajan on Apr 10, 2008 12:13 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is sad to see that India calls itself a very democratic country. Over and above all that they boast a lot for the nation. I think end of the day, employers want profits and run the business for only that sake and not for charity. Raj needs to understand that it is not marathi or UP , Bihar or Southern India that he is fighing against. If the qualifications and the skillsets meet the requirement and the employer is satisfied with the resource, he could be anyone from across India to be selected. Business is Done for PROFITS and not for EMOTIONS.
Certainly shows the kind of education the man has who is fighing the case without a foundation or support from his education marathi manus.

Job Quota in Maharashtra
by Palash Bhattacharya on Apr 10, 2008 12:12 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Raj belongs to the stone age and can be officialy branded a traitor to the country by other political parties. He should be deported from the country immediately. We should also seriously probe if he has any family lineage with Nathuram Godse. Mumbai is anyway on a decline in recent times and such events only tarnish the image of the city further.

Do you understand the meaning of the word "traitor"? Regional chauvinism of a person cannot make him Traitor. Rather, those should be called traitors who supported China's invasion of India and what should be said about those who "elect" these traitors for 30 years?

A letter to RAJ
by saunak ghosh on Apr 10, 2008 12:11 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I hope u read this message.

If India- Pakistan, Hindu- Muslim, caste, creed, were not enough to divide people, Now comes the Maharashtra vs the rest.... Really learnt a trick or two from the best practicers of "divide and rule", didn't you?? - the British RAJ... well u've the latter part ingrained in ur name anyway. But this is India... ek aadmi ki RAJgaddi nahin.

Also try to answer the following questions

1. Don't you care for your Maharashtrian brothers working inother parts of the country who might feel the brunt elsewhere?

2. Do you really think that by a 80% reservation you'll do any good to the efficiency of these cos? - If jobs are reserved, people will be casual.. and most of the time these posts will go unfilled.

3. You make things tough for businessmen, they shift elsewhere... Then the sons of the soil will be left with just the soil and not the fruits.

4. Don%u2019t breed inefficiency and a casual attitude among your own people%u2026 They%u2019ll never do well elsewhere or here then.

Your agenda and vote plea are baseless, unsound and totally pathetic. Even the educated Maharashtrians (I know they are lesser than ur uneducated vote bank) are seeing through your ploy.

Think of some issues which benefit ALL the people of Maharashtra.. People will remember you as a hero, rather than as a fickle minded wannabe dictator. See what happened to Hitler.

P.S. Am writing my name coz I can proudly stand behind my feelings. Also this isn%u2019t post w

* Marathis who migrate to other states and do not assimilate there are disrespecting the local language and culture.

* 80% job reservation of unskilled labor jobs should and must go to locals. Industries have signed an undertaking to do so.

* Maharashtra offers a favorable investment climate and therefore industries are set up here, not for cheap labor alone. If cheap labor was the only criteria, industries would have been set up in UP/Bihar and not in Maharashtra in the first place!

Beyond a certain point, it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
by on Apr 10, 2008 12:08 PM  Permalink

80% reservations? that idea clearly violates the fundamental rights of every single Indian to practise the vocation of their choice wherever they wish. Such a reservation is totally baseless, especially in higher positions. For small jobs such as support staff, it can still be implemented without too much of a problem. But if it were to be implemented across the board, it would signal the end of industrialization and any hope of economic growth in the state. If you cannot find qualified locals to fill the quota, are you expected to hire unqualified people and thus fill up vital jobs? Also, every employer has a right to hire the most qualified people for a job, and such a reservation would greatly reduce the companies' choices. Simply put, it does not make sense for an employer to continue operating in such an environment where they cannot hire the proper required employees. If such a reservation were to be implemented across the board, it would result in a mass exodus of companies from the state to greener pastures where they have the freedom and ability to hire the proper qualified employees. If the sons of the soil are qualified enough for the job, then there is no reason why they should not be hired. But arbitrarily forcing a massive 80% reservation would be sounding the death knell for economic growth in the state.
This same politics which aims to get more jobs will end up causing everyone to lose their jobs n shut down every industry there is.
