RE:REDIFF ARTICLES ARE PROOF OF BRAIN DRAIN

Is it indeed? Could you for a minute just think of the possibility that some fields that someone wanted to study or specialise in are not available in India?
That.. in order to obtain this expertise and bring it back to India, Indians must go to where it is taught or practised?
Look at all the top positions in premier Indian research institutes like NRSA, PRL, ATIRA, ISRO, TIFR...these are Indians who did their basic education in India but specialised in niche disciplines in universities in Europe, US, Canada.
Step out of India for a couple of months and you'll see that its not just in India... its a global phenomenon. Its called the "spread of knowledge". "Brain drain" is just a buzzword created by envious "i tried to go to phoren but I didnt make it".
The ones who made it... have not fled... they have gone to return with something better. Think about that...

Brain used to drain in early days. But recently, non brain only wants to drain and also the drainage is not accepting this brainless drain.

Its funny that people relate to brain drain only with engineering and management graduates. Yes, for many/most of them brain drain may be over but for one section, it is and will keep going on and that is for health professionals. In India, they are not valued nor are they paid well unless you et into a plush pvt hospital or belong to a family of docs/dentists with already set up pvt. practices. Till docs/dentists/nurses/pharmacists/physiotherapists are valued, this is one section that will continue the brain drain.
who should be held responsible for the brain drain? the government, not being able to retain them by providing opportunities? who looses due to brain drain? the government? the people? the migrants? what is patriotism? is it still a relevant word? what is selfishness? is it bad word? what if dollar further depreciates? and europe continues to a an unwelcoming destination?
is it really a matter of pride for migrants to be able to work in US/Mumbai after leaving their native land of India/other parts of india?
there was/is no brain drain. Those have money/contacts and have no capability to compete in their own country they go for abroad.Since getting chance in any IIT/IIM is tougher than getting admission in any foreign university.

Complete disagree, I graduated from a premier engineering school from India and then was offered a full scholarship to study abroad. Must tell you that it is a rewarding experience to work with international students as they bring a very different perspective to table..... lets open up and see the world outside.
We call it "Sheep Walk" !!!! Wonder why can't people find alternatives ? Probably Indians do not think out of the box ! Probably Indians never want to explore the areas other than what has been there for ages.
I took an alternative path to IT got my self certified in the highest levels of Vendor Certifications ..and I work along side IITians and earn more than them ..simply because I am good at something unique and have not crammed my head with things I do not need to perform my job thus outdoing the so called elite college Grads.
The problem is that when I am in India people think I am qualified enough ! cause I do not have an IIT or BIT degree. But when I am outside India ..hardly any of the employers know what IIT or BIT is!!!! They just want to know if you can bring them money! and they are more than willing to share a major part of it with you. Of course if you want to only wave the degree and claim that you have an Mtech!! cool go ahead I mean while would like to wave the bank notes!

Sanjay, i can understand that you are one among those frustus who couldnt make it to the IITs. And now you try to prove a point that you are well off than the IIT grads. Why dont you accept the fact that you were incompetent.
And i see that you wrote that you earn more than the IIT grads. Do they have the same experience as you are. What you earn after 5 or 6 years of ass-busting, the IIT grads earn in no time. So, please refrain from spreading farce.
And the final highlight comedy is, "Employers dont know what is an IIT". Man, you will be better off as a bollywood comedy script writer. Even BBC and other new channels have made documentaries about IIT and the standard of those kids who make it into IITs. And you puke something on the message board. This is a message board and not you story board.
As long as we do not attempt to improve ( incrementally) the infrastructure of rural schools, quality of teaching, earn & learn opportunities to some extent and right employment chances at various stages consistent to the skills attained and education obtained the middle and poor sections of the society whatever may be their religion and caste group do not get right opportunities to grow. Brain drain need not be losing Indians to serve outside country, wrong placements in employment also amounts to it. Political path to share power by creating their own identities based on region, religion and caste group etc. becomes only way for many of us.
Let us hope that we grow uniformly without leaving a majority of them behind.
ene need not necessorily be intelligentand smart,to go abroad. In the present situation in India, where in almost 80% jobs are reserved, the circumstances make tmem look for ajob out side India, and the moment they get opportunity, they grab it go away. However, most of them are intelligent and smart.Since India is not a place forthem ,to get rewarded. This is a place for mediocre, lazy and and whoare entitled for reservation.
does it really matter if there is a brain drain.. coz the smart ppl of india..still cant do better in india..they get frustrated w the system and leave.. so its the system that has to change if we are to retain the best.. blaming the smart ppl wont help... wake up indian govt!!!
