The area of concern is also misuse. If you see in 5 star hotels every thing is excess be it A/C, lighting, food, and brothel except for paying their staff. Multinationals and 5 star hotels adding fuel to fire by appointing people from other countries in the name of expertise. All this will result in demand supply mismatch. The whole world is has become greedy and selfish.
Look at a farmer%u2019s life now. No next generation to work in paddy field, all want their son to work in office and factories. More and more moving to the cities for work. No or little information on latest techniques, technology and supply of high quality/yield seeds . Farmers who work under the sun and rain fighting against natural calamities get nothing in return, that results in many self destruction. I have seen these people lead a simple contented life with what they have. But temptations through media and western influence prompts us in exhausting our natural resources faster, leading to global warming and destruction of our green planet.
You have a simple solution remunerate less for the people who work sitting in A/C and more for the people who work for the sustenance of others life.

You are right.Practically if we think the farmers has to get pay more than a IT employee. He is the one suffering to keep every indians healthy. IT developments only provide money not healthy citizens. But nowdays everybody is running behind money even doesn't care about the family. How many mothers are breast feeding their kids? that is why lot and lot Dr. are needed for our country. They don't think that the money they are earning is going for the hospital expenses in future. If the family is healthy your life is worthful.Otherwise how much you earn and spend is of no use. See another eg.the adds in TV about chocolate milk, boost.energy drinks etc. Iam betting you instead of these all if you drink half cup real cow milk you are really healthier than anythingelse.People have to think what they needed."wealth" or "health".People should aware of what they need and what not? If we act cleverly we can save our life in many ways.We can't blame the Govt. for everything. They are trying to go back on ecconomy basis. But the tax reduction for the electronic items are not good.Electronic items like fridge, microwave and washing machines are making people more lazy and providing a chance for them to spent in gyms.India like good climate countries don't need these things, remember these are spoiling your health.Govt.is supporting the market by reducing the taxes. So people should alert about these problems.Otherwise Drs.are beneficial
Finance Ministry : Higher taxes (till last month) Other indirect taxes %u2013 VAT, Cess, Service included. VAT: PM/FM stated that it will not affect common man. Fooled. Actually traders are billing it separately. You pay for this when for everything %u2013hotels to movies. Edu Cess: Everyone pays for this. Still fee hike is since last four years is more than 400 %.It is not IITs/IIMs alone ..even school fees is hiked. Over that reservations have affected chances of the so called general castes. Other expenses : Every city roads are not built using tax payers money but sold to individual contractors in the name of privatisiation. Toll for almost every impt road in every city. Essential commodities : Price rise since last four years is 35% to 115%. Though the govt claims that inflation is now 7%. This is not a new thing happening since last few months. Gas, food items, cosmetics, power, water all incl. Aviation Min.: Claims building or developing airports. Actually existing airports are sold to private bodies who in turn charge like toll you pay for traveling on road. Airports no longer are a public property they are shops of private ownerships like GMR. Airline company takes just Rs. 500 to 1000 for ferrying passengers. But Govt takes 1650 and the private airport owner takes Rs. 700. Agriculture Min.: Neg growth since last four years. Worst since 1947. This is inspite of huge expenses on free loans, subsidies on elec, water, ferlisers etc. Contd..

Child and Social Welfare : Male to female sex ratio on rise in many states. Noida child abuse accused is out on bail. Paedophila is getting rampant. Child labour is still an issue. It is easier to buy 4 children than buying one goat or bull.
Health Ministry : Fiddles around with the best institution AIIMS. Sacks honest director %u2013 Venugopal, delays issuing certifcates. Doctors strike takes casualities. Unavailability of medicines in govt hospitals inspite of huge procurements. Replaces honest directors of CRI %u2013 Kasuali, CDRI, Pasteur Institute Coonoor, DCGI with the most corrupt ones.
Home : Rise in terrorism. Kiran Bedi sacked. CBI not being made independent. Corruption / scams are no more a crime.
If you object to government then you are a non-secular Hindu fundamentalist BJP driven person.
Left adopts a policy not to withdraw support or pulling a government. So Chidambaram is angry with the Left. But he cannot show the guts to say something against Bush or terrorists.
The equation is simple - when the entire world is letting the dollar slide heavily Governer Reddy is buying up this fast becoming this fast growing worthless currency by the truck-load. The only one who are laughing all the way to the bank are the Americans and their importers who are buying our goods, basmati for a song.
RE:how to calculate
by Dangerous on Apr 04, 2008 03:07 PM Permalink
Inflation is measured by calculating the percentage rate of change of a price index, which is called the inflation rate. The rate can be calculated for many different price indices, including:
Consumer price index (CPIs) is an index number calculating services purchased by households and the average price of consumer goods. Cost %u2013of %u2013living indices (COLI) is that cost of maintaining a certain standard of living. It measures relative cost of living over time. Producer price indices (PPIs) are measuring the average changes in prices obtained by domestic producers for their output. Commodity price index is a fixed-weight index average of selected commodity prices, which may be spot or futures prices.
The Govt itself is responsible for such a high inflation and definetely aam aadmi are suffering with it. By election comes, definitely inflation will be brought back. Its a votebank technique. When people suffer and recover they think Govt has done betterwork. No Wise Govt in india can survive with Einstein's Famous saying "A clever person solves a problem. A wise person avoids it."
7% based on what? You say last year it was 6.54%. 6.54% of what?
Is there a constant base on which this is calculated or is it a changing base. It appears it is a changing base, usually Y2Y. But how then are you comparing inflation today with inflation last year on the same day. 7% means that prices have increased 7% from last year. How does it matter if it was 6.54% last year?
The fact of the matter is that things are slowly becoming expensive in India even for the middle class to survive on. Think about the poor. Why can't the govt follow simple policies and keep necessary things cheap and others relatively?
Why can't the govt abolish indirect taxes where a billionaire pays the same as a BPL person? These are the things hitting the poor more.
Inflation numbers in INdia are calculated based on WPI (wholesale price index). As the name suggest since its an index, its not calculated like YoY, as all index it has a base year may be 2000/02 though am not sure abt the base year and the scale is set at 100. Plus the index constitute lot of goods from different food products (cereals, pulses, fruits, fish to oils etc. to minerals and each of them are given weights in Index, e.g. Rice has weight of 2.4491 out of 100. When prices of these goods goes up compared to the base price which is fixed at 100, they say it goes up and vice versa. So unlike YoY or QoQ, its compared to base year. Hope if nt all certain things are clear now.

You know how Modi tricked Gujarat in Octroi. First before elections he declared removal of Octroi and now in the budget he increased sales tax by 2.5% and 1%. So the effective VAT rate in Gujarat are now the highest in India 15% and 5%.

Yes he will make it successful! Cement now carried 15% entry tax wef 01/04/2008, for entry in state of Gujarat.
The left parties are supporting the govt from the day one. What positive action they have taken for the control of prices except threatening and taking morcha against their own government (They support from outside but they have all inside information what Govt of India is doing), which will not help in controlling prices. Sit with the concerned authorities discuss and do something constructive. We all know that the current UPA partners are playing TOM and JERRY cartoon show with Indians
