by not from UK on Apr 02, 2008 11:35 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Bajaj auto is responsible for the half of vechile pollution in india. I dont understand why that company is left alone without taking any action.
They account 50% of the sound pollution as well

Senselessness of Sensenbrenner!
by Chakravarthy Muralidhar on Apr 02, 2008 11:31 AM  Permalink

The Americans have always behaved in the most irrational and irresponsible way when it comes to multilateral treaties and agreements. They preached free trade from rooftops during the 60s and 70s.But when it came to allowing Indian textiles into US,they put in all kinds of hurdles to save their own textile industry.Same with leather, steel castings and what not!!In every productline or industry they propped up non-tariff barriers and hurdles when their own industries could not withstand the competition. But they jeered and sneered at India and gave grave and solemn sermons on why inefficient domestic (only Indian) industries should be allowed to die if they could not face competition from US companies, especially zero-economic value companies like Coke, Pepsi,McDonald,Kentucky FC,fraudulent US insurance and stock-broking companies, etc, etc.Having ravaged the global climate and environment, they want India to tighten its belt while their adipose is falling and spilling all around their bloated belly without any holes left in their belt to hold all that excess, stinking muck!! Yet their hot-headedness,immodest ego and extreme brashness is something unbeleivable. Surely no other people in general and politicians in particular are as cussed as the Yankees!!

China & India should be No.1 & No.2

I think with about 2.4 Billion population in India and China farting daily we ofcourse are the worst polluters, but sorry Americans this is all natural we cannot help it. Ofcourse we are trying to control it.

Just for humour purpose. :-)

I disagree. The average American farts more than the average Indian or Chinese. Why, the American diet consists mainly of patatos, beans, butter, cheese and other junk food. together these lead ti great winds. So i'd say that america is the nation that pullutes the earth more than any other nation does, by carbon emisions or bodily gases.

India will have to take a middle stand
by S Yadhunath on Apr 02, 2008 11:16 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Global warming concerns everyone on earth and there can be no exception to it. It does not help to play politics on this as this is bound to affect everyone in the long run.

India should adopt a pro-active role of embracing greener methods of economic progress. In any case, there'll be a huge cost burden of switching over at a later stage, so why not now instead of later.

India should adopt a middle path of electing to embrace such climate-friendly policies as do not weigh heavily on economic growth. Yes, US is a much larger polluter and we don't have to be shy to state that loud in front of Americans as much as they seem to remind us loud.

Really clever people, the Americans
by Manoj M on Apr 02, 2008 11:06 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

They want to continue to ride their gas guzzlers, but want to deny India the rural electrification projects. The per capita emission of US is close to 100 times that of India, yet they make the pretence that its India which is polluting. India should never agree to sign the climate control treaty till we are at least half as developed as the US. I hope the US boot-licking politicians like Advani & Manmohan dont go ahead & sign this treaty like Nehru did at the UN.

I too agree. Also usa dumps her wastages in Antartica which is a closed circuit secret for all others. Damn arrogant nation. Why doesnt usa tell the same to NSG or IAEA. Too much deviation. Usa nows only one thing - use and throw.

India is a big polluter today. Just go to any Indian city or village and breathe the air or see the general filth around.

We don't even measure our pollution levels as there are hardly any metrics in place so to keep saying we are not the biggest polluters is moot unless we measure it.

how can yu equate a city and a village ? yu must be dumb or stupid or havent visited an average village aroudn the country. filth of the cow dung and dust is different from pollution. villages around the country are hardly polluted unless there's a river or strem passing by which carries the affluents dumped in the cities.
