Dont stereotype
by deepak on Sep 11, 2007 05:59 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is wrong to label successful Indians by religion and start analyzing their Muslimness. We saw this with Pres Kalam when some people despite his open indifference to Islam were clamoring to make a Muslim out of him. Premji would be in the same category. Its only celebrities like SRK or AR Rahman who even wear Islam on their sleeves. Chances are with little Hindu openness these gentlemen would have completely aligned with Hinduism.

Redical thinking is almost as old as logical thinking. The same thing is true about jinnah, Jinnah never went to mosqe for prayer, married to a parsi, his gradchild Nusali wadia follows parsi traditions.(I apologies for comparing Jinnah and Premji, which can be blasphemy for many people)
Actually you have to shun your fanatism and think logically and go ahead in life. Radical/fanatical thinking is suitable for those who want to go to heven after death, but if you want to creat your own heven while you are still alive you have to think independently / neutrally thats what premji has done & mind you many hindus goes out of india where a large population eats beef, if they start thinking that religion forbids them to stay at such a place, then perhaps india will remain a poor contry forever! Because you need to go out to earn money and respect for your contry. Long live logical thinking and hats off to premji who is indian first muslim 2nd.

Rightly said...Premji, Kalam are Indians first and Muslims second. Every Indian should be proud on their achievements.

Premji

I am afraid Wall Street Journal is attempting some mischief by giving a religious colour to Premjis's acheivement. Let us be careful Let us not fall a prey to Wall Street Journal's ulterior motives. Premji is first an Indian and like any Indian, he made use of the opportunities available in a democracy to work hard and prosper. In the process he has also created lot of employment opportunities to deserving and qualified professionals without going into the religion of his prospective employes. He has also created welath to the shareholders of his business group. Let there be more premjis, Tatas,Ambanis, etc. Let us not envy them.

Rajasekaran,

You are dead on target.

Why religion has to be highlighted in Premji's case? The same also goes for Sania. They are from India and religion is a private matter. For all you know, they may be more religious than others, who wear theirs on their sleeves for all to see, to camaflouge their real intentions.

I have enough of these religious fanatics who act as if they are directly in touch with God. The fact of the matter is, nobody has seen God and if otherwise, please identify and step forward. Sometimes, atheists are more human than the marching religious zealots, who have created hell on earth.

As God is beyond this universe, as he has created this outfit, people like Premji has proved to be a good human being and that he is a muslim does not really matter for the success achieved by him.

These types of articles serve only to divide people who are easily influenced. In that case, every article should highlight the religious affiliations of the persons involved. May be, only we deserve this special treatment.

May be the author had good intentions, but even good intentions can create havoc if wrongly highlighted and goes to wrong hands.

Let us not start another pointless controversy -my God is greater than yours etc - as it is easier to find faults in others.
