All said and done...civil engineering is on an upward swing not only in India but all around the world and when u have a Masters degree in fields like construction management after ur grad....u wont believe the world of opportunity awaiting u......yes it is unorganized but the real estate sector and the boom it is witnessing is sustainable......so one can expect greater job opportunities across the sector.....am very proud to b a civil engineer
I am a civil engineer and I know that this is the most unorganised sector in India. Now there is an artificial hype about the salaries and careers in civil engineering. My advice to the aspirants of civil engineering is look out for some other courses instead of this course.
All said and done about boom of real estate sector. This is also a highly paid Industry. So please tell me sometihng about legal eagles to get into that arena.
I know some professionals who are working in Real estate companies. There is a sea change in the way they are doing business now, when compared to 3 years back. I feel that with more & more pofessionals joining the industry, it would become a highly transparent & customer centric industry.

No doubt about it.But there are some lacuna on the part of land acquisition department of any real estate industry. The industry needs to rectify this.
It is very heartening to see each & every message posted here(i have read 12 messages so far) almost agreeing on the actual reality of the REALTY SECTOR. Please note the underlying goal of all the promoters/developers/builders which is only to fill their pockets. I have not seen any of them paying even reasonably well to any technical staffs.(i am a Civil Engineer). I have worked with top builders of Bangalore (BRIGADE) and Mumbai (HIRANANDANI). It was very dissapointing experience when it came to see what is left in our hands on last day of the month. Hardly any saving potential in salaries that we received. Hardly 10% saving. Whereas, we all know that these builders minted money in Crores & you can very well see the growth they have made in last one decade or so. Remember this was achieved due to the hard work of several thousand workers who were all paid below par.
Having realised their attitude very early (1995), i had left to Gulf as a Project Engineer (construction). I can very well say that middle east (saudi arabia and UAE in particular and other countries)offered far better prospects & they continue to offer better prospects to new comers even today.
Saving potential is very huge.(60% of salary as net saving). Even though i have returned to india few months ago, i can very well see the builders in same mould as they were a decade ago.
Hence, i would advise the readers to be cautious on the article & be ready to work any where in the world, if they offer be
I am also in the said sector and I would say this is the most unorganised sector. The promoters are not at all professional and their approach towards employees is totally indifferent. They are arrogant. They do not need professionals to run the business but as show pieces. They have money and their destiny has has made them multi millioners. This is just hype and when the prices will fall we will see the experts opinion. Always the other side of the mountain is green. Ths salaries are there because there is shortage of skilled persons. But the rule will soon apply to this industry. Can any one say that this boom will last for further 5 years and no correction will be there.
