Need for E-governance infrastructure
by Brian Antao on Sep 01, 2007 05:20 PM  Permalink

To have a grand vision of E-governance in place there is a need to have in place a proper E-governance infrastructure, without which the rest of the E-governance projects would not have much support for proper implementation. Without a good infrastructure these E-governance projects are like pan-bidi shop implementations of the various projects such as digitizations taken up on an adhoc basis, rather thatn what has been done with a concrete plan.

E-governance

One big problem in implementation & success of these e-gov projects is lack of permanemt IT staff in govn. departments. At most places departments are taking services from NIC or other similar state agencies, how much staff from outside organisation are helpful in implementation of ICT in govn. departments, can be seen from the degree of success of these projects.

The concept of e-governance is good and beneficial for country but the application depends on the willingness of government officials and politicians. They need to be traind first. They should be willing to follow. But they will not follow because it will create problme for their perosnal benefit-corruption
