after reading this article i can remark that these SEZs are having a helping hand for the economic development of the country because i accounts for almost 6% share in the total exports of the country. but i have one question that in order to establish a an industry in such an area, do we need to limit the choice of type of our business or any type of business can be established in such an area. also wat are the measures that govt. is following to ensure that the industries being set up in these areas are depicting their real stories.
I like the artical but one question that I would want answered is that the companies that actually opened in SEZ's, would they have not opened somewhere else if there were no SEZ's. If not then yes SEZ's are helping us. The real development will only come if we can attract other big players who would invest in India just because we have SEZ's. Is that happening? Or is it just the same TATA'a and Reliance and other local players opening shop in SEZ's to take advantage of tax breaks.
Entreprenuer cant run business successfully untill u provide them sefety, best infrasturcture. Thats why many state like UP, bihar are far behind. They expect business, investment come to them just like that. Its not possible. They have to provide best business climate, SEZ, then only business, big retials, industry will go there or only maharastra, gujraat will progress, other backward state will be sleeping for another 100 years.

Rightly said. There should be proper maintenance of law and order, which states like Bihar ad UP utterly lack.
The States need to be investor friendly and pay attention towards infrastructure development like adequate water, power, roads, railways etc.
The debilitating Communist mindset is still pervasive in this land, making all efforts at turning India into a progressive, developed, prosperous land a distant dream rather than a reality. Fact: over 75% of the masses depend on farming, whose contribution to the GDP is less than 20%, while in developed nations, less than 5% of the masses(depending on the country) depend on farming, which contributes less than 10% to the GDP. India need a massive shift from subsistence farming to meaningful employment, which can only come from developing the manufacturing and services industries, which requires land. Chicken and the egg?
the financial data is of export processing zones converted to SEZ, like SEEPZ in mumbai a exizting export processing zone from the 80's has been now converted to SEEPZ

What is the basis on which SEZs are identified and developed? I'm not sure why Bidadi township - aimed at IT development is developed far south of Bangalore, whereas Bangalore international airport is present in north ... One definite reason I can think of is - all projects are getting a nod based on where our petty politicians are having lands and therefore can generate income ...
