While IIMA has gone on to get international parnerships with more than 50 institutions, how many Indian institutions has it really benefitted. Has it shared its domain of knowledge, expertise in teaching-research processes with A and B grade B-schools and hand held them ! or has it continued to grow globally without contibuting to the growth of lesser fortunate Indian B-Schools who coul have benefited greatly with an association with IIMA. It seems IIMA stll continues to be elitist and instead of atleast hand-holding a few B_Schools in India, prefers to build its own image. It is good to grow but also to help others less priviledged institutions to grow too... Probably the time to introspect on this is now !!

Every institute should come up on their own. You cannot expect all institute to be like IIM-A in India just like all B-Schools cannot be Kellogs or Stanford. Who says that everything needs to be shared. Try to appreciate the fact that IIM-A has made its mark across the world.

You are 100% right, No American Management School teaches you about society. Learning to be selfish (Sorry.... Being RUTHLESS and GOAL ORIENTED) is the first dictum of Management...Outcome is WORLDCOM...AurtherAnderson and ....nice petrol MNC of US! Management does not teach you to become nice citizen or GOOD HUMAN...(These two things are poles apart). Therefore the behaviour of IIM-A should not be surprising, because an institute trying to emaluate US their idols (US B-Schools) teaches to be selfish. Hats-off mate....I am sure you are CEO material.

well..it'd be wrong to say that IIMA has not contributed in grooming Indian B-schools or other institutions... for instance, it has helped various instt. like NIAM, IRMA and GB Pant univ. to set up their management courses...apart from that various packages like management development programs (offered for executives from India Inc.) and teacher's development program (where hundreds of teachers from other B-schools participate) DO HELP the cause of corporate world as well as so called "less priviledges instt." apart from that, various profs. of iima have also been contributing to the Indian policy making...be it agriculture or railways, IIMA has been contributing on all fronts...so it'd be wrong to gauge the contribution of this school only in terms of foreign tie-ups or salary hikes...
In a able ideal GOvt.,any new sector will be initialized ,then nutured and once it becomes stable to be independent it should be given to pvt sector.... but here lot of individual people develope a system with their cognizance and fight hard in market to yearn a brand equity then Govt.., comes in and takes over either by policies or abduction..
Role og govt is to govern.. not to take over... if a private person could do a work independently socio-eco friendly means it should be let to them for the sake of those hard work..... govt is for making service not to make profit.. So take law and order and basic education to your control leave everything to people and create a environmemnt to do the best,,thats all ,that is why we pay tax....
Dr Dholakia is what Dr cheriyan sab is to AMUL.. however Dr Cherian too had to relinquish his coveted post. It is a great solace that Dr Dholakia's services will be still made available to IIM-A. Hope his successor will continue from where Dr. Dholakia has left off and lead this presigious Management Institution to ever greater heights and glory !!! I wish Dr Dholakia all the very best in his retired life !!!
