In connection to my following post. What if their customer does not have financial capacity to buy a product? They arrange finance for customer. All automobile manufacturers in the world are ready to give you FINANCE (!!!!) if you buy their product. one more example. All the aircraft manufacturers (civil aviation and defence both)sell their products to near bancrupt countries with the help of their corrupt politicians. They make a deal to sell, then they also arrange finance to buy also!!! (finance also from so called multinational banks of their own country)And under such circumstances, who has capacity to bargain for price? And for consumer products, they just lure customers by providing finance and useless features And when you buy with such EASY payment terms, you lose your capacity to bargain for RIGHT PRICE. This multinational culture apparantly has come to our country, yes. But indirectly, it was always there in our country- for generations- financially strong people always exploited others. This type of business management or thinking has nothing to do with education or curriculum of IIM. Exploit others, is the only culture of so called successful organizations all over world. And I am of the opinion that professionals participating in the above mentioned IIM Calcutta meeting are just trying their best to make our IIM graduates become more compititive And I do not see anything wrong in it. Because, for hundreds and thousands of years, the world has looted us

So, as long as business is concerned, particularly multinational companies, where our IIM professionals get jobs with excellent pay packages, it has nothing to do with our IIM curriculums. In fact, once they are in the job, they do not have any say or power. Only their professional capabilities are used to follow and make stronger the philosophies of those companies. Even if we change the curriculum and even if we make our IIMs world number one institutes, still the professionals coming out will never be policy makers, but they will always be policy followers. And not being in a policy maker role is not their problem, because, the policies are decided by shrewd money oriented culture of ALL multinationals who are ruling the world for years. No single individual has that capacity. Even if a particular company employs ten or twenty IIM graduates, still, all of them together will remain policy followers. Except, dynamic management like Ambanis or Tatas or Birlas or Ruias (and many other indian houses) give them FREE HAND, only then they can show their real talent. Otherwise, with non indian companies, forget to change the world. And at the end of day, they must take care of what they get in their pocket. I would rather suggest that our country must go for atleast another ten more IIMs and twetyfive more IITs. PRODUCE PROFESSIONALS. Let them get jobs all over the world. And then in another ten years, only indian professionals must rule the world.
Whether it is US or Japanese or German or any multinational company, their only GOAL of successful management is EXPLOIT. Yes, exploit, whether he or she is their employee or supplier or customer .... once that person or company deals with the company, the game is over.... how? All successful companies have one mantra - innovation. Remain one step ahead of competitors in terms of NEW and advanced features of a product. Then it becomes easy to sell the product as it is human psychology to SHOW OTHERS that I own something more advanced and more expensive (like mobile phones - more than 90% of indian users never NEED to use the features provided, but still they keep on buying new handsets frequently). Once you buy something, then they will bring new model of same product with some advanced features, and again come to you to sell. They never talk about NEED OF CUSTOMER, BUT THEY ONLY TALK ABOUT THE FEATURES OF THEIR PRODUCT ONLY!!! Our age old Ambassador/Premier cars - even after more than 25 yrs, they are on roads, because service parts are always available. How many Japanese and America cars of 2005/2006 model will you see on road twenty five years from now? And their design is so proprietory that once you purchase a product, you are trapped!!! They will provide you a Re.1 part for Rs.100 Yes, all of them without exception. It has nothing to do with IIM curriculum. Only one word EXPLOIT is their mantra
IIMs are one bloody hyped up institution. All they do is make news for being hired as analysts for foreign investment banks, which undergrads in US get into without an MBA. And TOI here prints it as headline news as if it is something great. Just imagine some country in Africa making a big deal about a few guys from their country making it to entry level programming jobs in Infy. It is exactly the same parallel. And gullible people here think it is great, without knowing what's what

dear mr. babloo, it seems, you are one who could never get in to any of IIM. If you had, then your ideas would have been totally reverse of what you have written. First thing you have to keep in mind is that we, more than one billion indians, all of us without exception, everyday struggle - first to survive, then to make progress and in the race to make progress, always comes progress of everything. If someone can make money out of your contribution, only then he or she or a company will pay you. And here comes capability of an individual person. You may be a high school drop out or an IIM professional. It all depends on YOU. And what you do and what you contribute to society and country depends on YOU, AND NOT THE EDUCATION OF IIM.
Media has hyped IIMs and IITs as if other management institutes and technica institutes produce bufoons and only these two grade of institutes produce greats. dude, if ur so so patriotic why dont you do some social work urself?????? loet the smarties who want to build a career in the iims go ahead and people like you can keep ranting forever.....
I was surprised to know curriculums are debated in such open forums. And that seems something great. Probably word US centric is not accurate description. US drive or US derived education is better word. After we Indians are smart and we don't want to reinvent all over again. So it's nice to look around and see what's been already done. And US is where this concept of MBAs to run business emanated. So clearly there influence will be predominant. Maybe there are some great MBA courses in France, Germany etc. But they don't come forth and we don't have time to learn their language first.
It's just like why English Premier League is more popular in India than La Liga. Former talks language we understand and know and probably that's inspired Indian Hockey League.
Chest Beaters, get off this. This aint' nationalistic discussions. It's about academics and business.
22 official language... Couple by sub ethnicity within these groups. Then couple some Muslim/Non-Muslim religious problem and also add in some Christian conversion problem. In this big pot one will find no common opinion on ANY issue. On top of that your democracy is written in foreign language English which is larger masses do not understand and who vote the offices in power who will govern the state in English.. LOL LOl LOl LOL... There will be no progress in India.. Right down... The odds are against Indians...
The current so called progress of India is by individual Indians who are on their own and compete for every small to larger things like dogs... In doing so they have forgotten anything so called an idea which was India... I may sound pessimistic but serach for any other country on this planet called Earth and there is no such country like India...

What are you smoking about? US has 50 states each with its own laws. Did it impact progress? And then come people over there who know nothing outside city? These issues have nothing to do with progress or the article itself. Perhaps you have never seen and enjoyed fruits of diversity.
