Cards: How good are cash back offers?
by S Rajendran on Dec 14, 2007 01:13 PM  Permalink

Both my wife and I had continously booked tickets on Ezegoo using ICICI card which offers 50% cash back. But no cash back has come to us despite the fact that it is now almost more than two months we bought the tickets. Ezeego. com is absolutely dishonest, and should be blacklisted by both card companies and airlines at the earliest and Rediff.com must take the lead in pressurising all associated endeavours to blacklist ezeego.com which I understand is owned by Cox and Kings, which is promoted by Peter Kerkar, son of Ajit Kerkar formerly of Taj Group of Hotels. ezeego offer
by Sharmistha Sanyal on Nov 05, 2007 06:09 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

this ezeego offer is itself a fraud. u get cash back only if the tkt is purchased on normal fare and not on apex fair or any other promo. so using a icici gold card, i got a cash back of rs 1100 whereas my purchase was Rs 16000. I am aware that i wont get off on airport and other taxes but i was expecting atleast double the amount i got. but then again, i would say it might be cheaper than if you buy from the airline booking office.

Too much fine print ...

ICICI Bank usually has too many riders because of which their credit card members get cheated and harrassed alot.

"only if the card is swiped on their electronic data capture terminal (EDCT)" is just one such.

When their "IcyIcy bank" telecallers worry you they skip all this stuff.

Very true priyank. Since the whole of US is in debt and these banks do not have much business there, they have come to India & other Asian countries. Hope people understand this rather than calling you a politician. We have a saying in Hindi, "Jitni chaddar ho, utne hi pair failayo." Simply means "Live within your means".

Only Debit Cards.
by utpal ganatra on Nov 05, 2007 05:46 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Only Debit Cards should be used. There is no benifit of Credit Cards. Why to pay later? If you have money in your bank account pay at that time only.

No harm in using credit cards, but you should feel that you are really spending money. Unfortunately, people tend to think that credit card is free money.

Very true Harish Kashyap. If you use credit cards within your means it is an excellent tool to avail credit. Spend within limits and pay bills on time. You will never be charged interest. Also, keep the credit limit as low as possible. Eg. If you know that your monthly spend will be in the range of Rs.4 to Rs.5 thousand, inform your bank to set the credit limit to Rs.7 to Rs.8 thousand or Rs.10,000 max. Any credit limit beyond that attract fraudsters.

The Looters Robbers in the name of Banks or their Agents
by Ghanshyam sengar on Nov 05, 2007 05:23 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

All these cash back offers are the traps to befool the customers. Once you are hooked , your hard earned money will be snatched from you before you will even know it. There are hundreds and hundreds of ways to cheat the customers but these tricks will not be advertised by these looters. One becomes aware of them only when one had parted with his hard earned money. It is common knowledge that credit cards companies will not send you the bill at the right time intentionaly and then they are free to charge interest and penalty for non payment at the rate of 50% or above. If you donot pay then they hire goodas who will beat you on the streat and take away your valuable against the bank's charges. So donot fall in their trap. The writes is also one of the bunch of trap master whose job is to befool the general public.

I have had taste of these cards and offers. So finally I cut my cards in 4 pieces each and returned to their banks with a note that I do not need your good service of this type.

Well, there are two sides for every coin. Which side a person is depends on ones own prudence.
