ICICI overpromises, underdelivers
by Tarun Agarwal on May 15, 2007 09:22 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

ICICI says too much, but one needs to read between the lines. Lot of exclusions are there. It is very difficult to get money from ICICI. Would NOT recommend it at any cost. Semi-govt is much better. Author should take care that he/she can mislead public into buying the policy

Yes, with ICICI be clear on deliverables. They promise everything but in my experience it was never possible.

ICICI is not giving what they promise,i took one health plan from icici lombard in 2005,i discussed with customer care executive about doctor fee and he told that doctor cunsultation fee is cover and when i received the policy paper it was clearly mantioned that cunslation fee is not included then i call to customer care and they told sorry sir the cuns.fee is not included, only hospitalization charges is included,i paid the premium by credit and they returned the money after deduction all their charges after 3 months so beware of this company and clear all the issue before buying any plan.

I took National Insurance company mediclaim 6 years back. I had an operation and company was very punctual in giving me money. Because of good experience, i got whole family insured.

One thing i can assure u from semi-govt insurances... "YOU dont need to read between lines" . I mean the smallprint.

If u got for private things are rosy in paper, not in real life.

what about parents in a family?
by SRINIVASA GOWDA on May 15, 2007 06:47 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

hey rediff get the details for teh parents as well. Even today, Indian family comprises of parents along with wife and children. So get those facts as well. This is incomplete article just highlighting the positives and there's no negatives? Hmm.. thats impossible. I want to know whether family includes parents, as per the Policy. I dont know much about North Indians(I have no intention of classifying India into North and South) since I didnt have any friends or neighbors from North but as far as Karnataka, AP and TN are concerned, I am sure that family includes parents as well. Guys no intention of hurting anyone but what I know is only this. So be fully informative, rediff.

Pregnancy is not covered in individual policies, lest you are covered by your company in corporate health cover, there upto 80% of expences occured are re-imbursed.

Do not believe all these nonsense. Its all bogus. Customer supports is too bad.

Everything looks fine on papers. Even I had opted for this plan during January 2006. I had covered my wife and son under this policy.ICICI Lombard sent me the policy papers and they had clearly mentioned that my wife and son are covered under this scheme. But the health card was issued only to my son.
Upon repeated request to send the health card in the name of my spouse, the customer supports mentioned that only my son is covered under the policy. When I raised the objection, then they accepted the fact and said that they will send the health card in the name of my spouse too.

After almost 2 months I received one more welcome kit. But this time too, it was covering both the names in the policy paper, but the health card was issued only to my son. This time too, I complained the customer supports but it was in vain. Finally I decided to cancel this policy. I had paid Rs 9000/ for this policy and ICICI returned only around Rs.2500/- after the cancellation. These all things happened within a span of 7 months. I have lost the faith on ICICI LOMBARD.

This is a publicity article by rediff.com . There should be some demarcation that this is an ADVERTISEMENT ARTICLE as in practice in print media.

ICICI Lombard's practices needs a closer look as well as their tie-up with the healthcare company, TTK Healthcare...lots of mal practices

Phew! Just saved myself from going for ICICI Lombard policy. Thanks everyone guys! Your information really rocks. I think I'll go with the semi-govt medi-claim policies, though none of them offer family floater, they seem to be pretty decent in settling claims and that is what is needed!

Can Mr Kaptan Sharma give more details abt the IOB health plan?

ohhh sad to hear this. This is what these private people aim at and rediff is cheap publicity for all of these craps. I am also not going for this policy and will await something similar to this from LIC. I hope they will get it soon. These private players will be shown door then on. BTW, i am not understanding why u didnt use RTI? Is RTI meant only for govt/govt. related. works? I dont have much info of that But hopefully some can highlight it here. anyways its been good info from you, Indian. Thanks.

Where is the small print
by srihari vallabhajosula on May 14, 2007 09:17 PM  Permalink

reading this, initially, sounds good. But, thinking about it, admission for more than 24hrs and day case procedures ... hmm ... how many chronically ill patients utilize inpatient services as suppose to outpatient.

Does this mean, having to pay the consultation fee out of the pocket and not being able to use the insurance because no admission is needed!!!

ICICI should clarify this
