It's ok to have a dozen liquor shops in residential areas, and residents treated to various states of inebriated and foul behavior. It's ok for drunks to lie down on public streets and gutters without the police bothering them whatsoever. But God forbid if Kingfisher airlines provides a glass of beer on its flight. Ooh, it's against our culture. What culture? My uncle died of alcoholism, and I have seen middle class families (let alone the working poor, with their toddy addiction) ruined because of liquor. Yet we have these charades of character, culture and what not for display in public. You see, the moment that blue collard labourer boards a flight to Singapore, he will ask for "Shivaji Regal". He will make sure he gets drunk enough to vomit on his neighbour and/or harass the pretty Singapore Airline air hostess. That, we don't mind, it's all in our culture.
I think Vijay mallya is a great business man and bold businessman unlike others. He doesn't mind taking risks . He has been my role model and I have been closely following him for a long time.
He might be king. But one thing he was a miserable failure in and might never get right is in the finance industry. McDowell Finance went down under (despite having 'doyens' like Mallya and TTK) and took with it hard earned money of gullible investors. The money apparently used to support supplier distilleries was lost when these distilleries went non-performing. While Mallya could have easily supported McDowell Finance with his thriving liquor business, he just let it go (so what, it was only public money, right?). Mallya might make pots of money, but God forbid, when he kicks the bucket, he wouldn't be remembered for anything by anyone, except by probably the disgruntled investors.

Hey: he does what he does. but what about the LAW and the rules in our country, are they Sleeping. and this politicians they just suck! the only way one can put our country in a right track is by making the LAW very Strict and by imposing punishments harshly and charging huge penalties,so that no one would dare to commit any mistake knowingly! (like the LAW of any developed country) , GOD bless us till then.

The poor people either foolishly waste money on beer, cigarettes, bidis, dance bars and go bust. Otherwise, they foolishly keep investing in gold, agricultural land etc. The bottomline is they do not know how to save and invest. As long as this ignorance continues, people like Mallya will always milk money. It's the government who for their revenues promotes liquour culture deserves all the flak not Mallya.

Hello there, I think you are a hypocraite like our own Government. If poor people bought the beer to have a GOOD TIME mind u they had exactly what Mallya intended to -He at least says things the way they are. You are a hypocraite who will want to have the beer at no cost perhaps. Like the Govt. of ours Bans lottery, Bans Betting, bans private gambling BUT it certainly is not averse to making hefty money through heavy taxes on Horse racing -Is this not Gambling? So you also seem to be a similar hypocraite. Why dont u join Politics u BUM?
