you only had to call up your network provider and they would have told you to use the DND option.

There are Methods of Prevention
by Ashwin Natarajan on Jun 05, 2007 10:33 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

hi Govindraj,

There is a way of preventing the same, you can register with your operator using the the DND service which will block all unsolicited calls to your phone, Most telecom operators have list like that which you can access using thier home page.

Also put your phone on silent/vibration mode so that you dont get disturbed in the middle of the night.

If the DND fails then you can Sue the the operator for breach of services, trust me 1 phone call from your side and people at the other end sit up and take notice.

After all you are the end customer and the Customer is the emperor these days.

Here is a site which has link to most of DND (Do Not Disturb) directories. Wait for a few weeks and there will be one registry instead of many separate links.

Hi All you have to do is to respond to an article just like this one above , you are forced to reveal your e mail ID. The next thing you know is that you will be inundated with spams. So who is selling your e mail id? Well you guessed it!

Mobile Spams
by DrYNI Anand on Jun 05, 2007 09:24 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Hi Govind,

Sorry for your plight. I faced similar situation when I had an Airtel Connection. After threatening them of legal action, they stopped sending Spam messages. However, I did not want to continue with them and switched over to BSNL. Ever since then, I hardly receive any Spams. Why do you also not try BSNL? BTW, I am not an agent of BSNL.

Thanks, Dr Anand

Recently an email spammer has been penalised in US--he could get an imprisonment for as long as 20 years for the same. That's the way forward. We need some law to tackle this problem.

There should be heavy penalties for spaming, it should be made criminal offence. Service providers selling data should be made to shell out heavy compensation.
