Paisa Ka Khel
by SHESHASHENAREDDY TURPU on Jul 25, 2007 12:09 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It indicates the strengthening of Indian economy but yet rupee is not touched that much high. I think when 1 USD = 0.1 Rs then, India will become NO. 1 in the world.

1 US Dollar is 120 Japanese Yen - which is 3 times lower exchange rate than that of Indian Rupee.

Are you saying that Japan has a 3 times poorer economy???

Get your economics-101 straight before posting such stupidities

the whole credit goes to Keralites for rupee value rise. Mallus go to gulf countries, usa, uk, germany, france, europe, australia, uganda etc. and work very very hard to earn money which help in national growth.

Only progrsseive states mainly south & west India states are progressing.
BIMARU states can't progress because of their govt job mentality.

THis is the reason we indians are still a developing nation. We fight between each other and try gaining weightage for things we have not done. Also wehn some good thngs happen we say i did it but when sumthng bad happens we say they did it.
We indians are responsible for this appreciation and we should stand up and applaud our efforts and keep moving as a unit rather than individuals.

Have you ever thought of making people aware about cleanliness and trying to set an example? Surely people will understand. India cannot become an european country overnight unless people like you stop cursing the country and leave it in the lurch.
The idea is you keep trying to make it a better place to live yourself. Its not enough if you keep your house and room clean but throw dirt outside. If you come out of this mindset, over a period of time at least 1 in 10 will follow your example.

Many who have lived and worked in developed countries say "India will be the same under-developed country for ever". This is very true if every one points finger at others and critizise all the time instead of taking raw views of reality and make small moves to mend ourselves. India is so populated and still remain under-developed. This will remain the same if all Indians do not mend their attitude and begin to work with THE COUNTRY as the first priority in mind. For instance, I was extremely ashamed when I happened to use the toilet of Mumbai International Airport. It was pathetic beyond words when you compare this with developed countries(countries which were developing along with us). Lesser said about this is better! and for visitors from other countries, this exactly gives the first hand impression of how Indians treat their country!. Believe me, India will never ever be a developed and clean country if Indian attitude towards India is filthy, filthy not only surrounding us but in our minds also which is the root source of all filth. If this filth is gradually removed by stronger education for the masses from grass root levels, we have the hopes of irradicating the seemingly permanent label "dirty, sick and poverty strickened country" stuck on India by the people of the world since the time of our independence.

The Good, The Bad ...the ??
by sunny hirani on Jul 25, 2007 11:51 AM  Permalink

Quite nice topic..After going through the whole discussion.. I Feel its a good thing that the ruppee is getting stronger with the imports wud be cheap.. But when would be see the effect of the prices getting reduced? maybe once we see the positive side of the Rs rise we would actually appreciate it. Also we knew that the profits of IT industry wud reduce due to the high pay scale and it was unstable as the growth was very exponential...The growth of the ruppee just added to it.. So now the IT companies would change their business approach and we cud see a stable growth than the sudden exponential one..The pay scale would be common across all IT industry and this could improve the attrition rate faced by it..So if there is profit of 60% instead of 75%..y are they creating so much of noise..didnt they knw their profits are very sensitive to dollar - Rs relation..There are others markets to explore than US..

Too much hype for rupee appreciation.
by vijayprabha on Jul 25, 2007 11:47 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

We allways think Dollar is an important currency and ours is not good. Those days are gone.India is growing in a fast manner. It is a growing economy. The top fund managers of west are investing more money in India now.It will become a developed country in a few years time. When globalisation is accepted the people should accept some ground realities. The weak American economy and strong Indian economy is made Dollar weaker and Rupe strong. We have to find somer alternative way of doing international businesses in future.Importing rawmaterials in Dollar term and exporting in Euro or some other strong currency is a better option now.The predictions are going that the Dollar may go down another 3 to 5% in an year.As shiv khera said only those who think differently can win.

Dear Vijayaprabha,

I endorse your view.

And the Govt. also can implement now the poverty alleviation measures.

Most of our poor country fellow men even does not have one square meal per day.

Our Ex Prez Dr. APZ said when there is a growth rate is at 9%, it is not evenly balanced.

Unless and Until, all my fellow country men are meting their basic needs, let this trend continue.

Actually the rupee rise exposes the Indian IT story all these so called Indian IT Majors do the low-tech, labour intensive work, so the billing rates are low. If they have to beat the the heat of rising rupee this companies should move up the value chain get hi-tech and knowledge intensive work.

moronic fear of rupee appreciation
by on Jul 25, 2007 11:32 AM  Permalink

The export lobby, psuedo economists and dumb media - a powerful body of vested interests, are raising the rupee appreciation bogey again. What does this mean for the common man? If the rupee appreciates, the export wallahs who have been living off the fat of the land ( subsidised land, artificially depressed rupee etc) will have to make do with lesser profits. Psuedo economists who have no clue about how and why currencies appreciate will press for state controls to indulge their whims. Dumb and corrupt journalists will float stories based on who is footing their bills.
The facts:
India's GDP according to PP is 4.156 trillion $
acc to the official exchange rate it is 804 billion dollars. This shows the gap between reality and our inferiority complex fuelled by the vested interests of exporters and crooked bureaucrats/ politicians who would like to protect their foreign currency savings stashed away abroad.
A strong currency will mean cheaper and affordable imports from other countries, including the USA. IF a few lakhs of people who have been leading a parasitical existence based on the depressed rupee get to be jobless- too bad. Hundreds of millions will benefit from deflation. The greatest good for the greatest number- that's what democracy is about!

RUPEE APPREICATION LEADS TO MARVELLOUS DEVELOPMENT
by sathya narayanan on Jul 25, 2007 11:22 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Pls all keep one more thing in mind, our Central Government gives export incentive for all sectors and even if exporters feels unhappy they will do the trade in euro instead of dollar. if currency appreicates we can able to purchase quality products in lower prices. Even our Government and Foreign investors able to concertrate more on local market and local production , this will automatically create a more jobs than export industry. Even common man in india able to enjoy lifestyle what have done by rich people. We will strong in every sector like as chinese people, there is no need to depend IT sector Only and everybody will be able to get equal salary level in every and each sector due to local business development.

I Hope it leads real development of india when common man develops in the society. Eventhough i am working in abroad and my exchange rate gets fall one Rupee it made a loss of Rs.25000 per month then as an individual i love development of my country then why don't you to.
