Ideas, Ideas and Ideas !
Just waiting for the day, when government start " Governing" , instead of bussiness.
What is wrong with the present one ? This "Latest " bug would not serve any purpose.Cash transactions are still in force - Try buying a house. Mr. Chindu should pay more attention to it instead of selling the 'Same product in new packing'

Income Tax-
by Bala on Jul 18, 2007 01:16 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Mr. Finance Minister, why dont you come up with some plan for getting tax out of big business than targetting salaried class....
Its easier to target salaried class, it does not mean that you keep taxing citizens like us

Office expenditure per month : 14,000

Traveling concession (Rs. 8 per km) : 48,000 ( eg.For a visit from kerala to Delhi & return: 6000 km)

Daily DA TA during parliament meets : 500/day

Charge for 1 class (A/C) in train: Free (For any number of times)
(All over India )

Charge for Business Class in flights : Free for 40 trips / year (With wife or P.A.)

Rent for MP hostel at Delhi : Free

TOTAL expense for a MP [having no qualification] per year : 32,00,000 [i.e. 2.66 lakh/month]

TOTAL expense for 5 years : 1,60,00,000

AND THE PRIME MINISTER IS ASKING THE HIGHLY QUALIFIED, OUT PERFORMING CEOs TO CUT DOWN THEIR SALARIES?..

This is how all our tax money is been swallowed and price hike on our regular commodities.......

855 crores could make their life livable !!
Think of the great democracy we have.............
PLEASE FORWARD THIS MESSAGE TO ALL REAL CITIZENS OF INDIA .....
But,
STILL Proud to be INDIAN

PAN to be known as IPSSN
by Lalatendu Patro on Jul 18, 2007 12:48 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I really appreciate the concern of our finance minister for biometric pan cards, better suggest to make it like SSL (Social Security Number like USA). I suggest as IPSSN (Indian Permanent Social Security Number), where it can contain all the Important details like: DOB, Blood Group, Native Status(Resident Addressboth Permanent and Present), Pan No, Driving License No,Voter ID details, Passport status, Education etc..

All Suggestions Welcome!
Thanks!
Patro

Bio meteric cards - A good start
by sheetal kumbhat on Jul 18, 2007 12:38 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It's a very nice idea to have such a secure card. But it's better to go with ratina impression, so as to avoid any misuse.

Did the finance team take over the IT??
by on Jul 18, 2007 12:23 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I am sure i missed the grand plan of events? We can't get electricity and water to our masses but find innovative ways to make them get into the tax audits. Our country seems to be converting into a financial corporation.. Sad way to go!!

Dear Sir,
You are failing to understand that the only way for the civic amenities to reach the people is through proper taxing methods and their collection.

Dear Arunji,
You are correct!!"proper taxing methods and their collection" are key words!! Is this the appropriate solution?? IT should be used to facilitate and not direct. The Finance Babu's have failed to create an open and transparent system for collection of revenue through taxes in the last 57 odd years and this is just another diversion which all of us will accpet and follow!!

Dear Arun,

Taxing methods for general public thats all. How about big business houses and politicians themselves.

Finally its not being done to provide better services and its more to pick large chunk of public money through various scams when you are part of ruling party

This is a nice idea provided it is implemented in a non cumbersome method. For I dread to hang around governent officials to get a biometric card.

Percy Panthaki, India's foremost academician and politician, who has been the brains behind every single political and economic move in the last 15 years sitting in the PMO along with collaborators like Montek Singh and Guneet Singh should be at the forefront of the Pan Card initiative. It will remain something useful only if he takes charge, else we will be stuck in Pan's Labyrinth.
Up with Percy Panthaki!

Pan Cards & taxes
by kumar on Jul 18, 2007 12:06 PM  Permalink

Govt should have better means of earnings than taxes. look at gulf countries they are tax free.. Ultimately the tax amounts goes in the pockets of the so called govt servants.
