I dont know why these guys are making things so complicated with all these numbers and cards...we have PAN, MPIN, Photo identity card, ration card..etc..etc, why not a single card which caters to all the needs?
Sounds good. But no deadline set. Whats ups. New policies, new technologies alls good for the coming future. Whats for NOW. what about basic neccessities. Please come do people really are overwhelmed by this or are they looking for their basic protection of their family.
Biometric PAN Card is good idea in long term in many ways and very useful to track all tax evaders. It should be made Mandatory and Govt must bear the cost of Biometric PAN cards.
Secondly, Finance Ministry MUST come up with Master Plan, where All Government Departments expenditures (Central & State) must introduce Multi-level & Multi Party, Governement(Accountant General Audits) PLUS private Auditors (from Technical & Financial Auditors) who are certified by Professional organizations (Like Institute of Engineers / Institute of Charted Accountants etc) to reduce curruption. At the same time monitor personal income of all Govt. employees, Contractors, Politicians and their Relatives and associates during the Government Expenditure phase to reduce Benami trasactions by using Biometric PAN cards.
This way Government MUST exhibit their transparency to all Genuine Tax payers that their commitment is NOT Limited to Tax collections BUT ALSO in Controlling and Monitoring Government Expenditures.
This is Essential because All Genuine Tax payers have lost all hopes on the genuinity of Government Expenditures genuity of the Technical and Financial Audit Reports. Hence Private Auditors must be used for cross checking the genuinity.

Good Initiative taken by our FM. This would help a lot in long run. This would be a stepping stone for the government to streamline all the financial transactions and may be much more.
In advanced countries like US, the SSN number is playing a vital role in every walk of life. Probably they even wouldnot have thought that the implementation of SSN would bring so many benefits. Just because of setting up the proess of having SSN for everyone, they are now reaping the benefits.
