by amit madan on Jan 24, 2007 05:29 PM  Permalink

I think its nice move to invest 5% in stocks. Govt can hire good consultants for that and there will be better returns, I m sure.

A sensible discussion
by Ashok Trivedi on Jan 24, 2007 05:24 PM  Permalink

Finally, a sensible and important topic to discuss. I was fed up with Shilpa Shetty and Ganguly and Chappell stuff.

If there is a 5% investment in equity, people need to be educated that returns will not be guaranteed. A fall in the market can result in even zero gain as a fall in equity will balance the rise in debt even if it is 5% versus 95%.

No Way

If the govenrment were to invest pf funds in stocks then why have pf at all in the first place. Make pf optional and we will take care of our own investments. This is only a means for the politicians to fill up their overseas accounts

Why only 5% in Stock Market
by Santosh Paraswar on Jan 24, 2007 05:16 PM  Permalink

If Stock market is giving consistent returns from couple of months, then Govt can also should invest large bunch of PF money into Capital market and even they can earn more than 30 % annually. Govt can return more than 8.5 % to all 4 crores employee a sweet benifit.
