During the earlier years of Japanese development, the quality of Japanese products was not very good. But they improved quickly with time.A similar thing is happening in China. The quality of their manufactured products is not good.Maybe 5 year from now on they will have developed their own management practices.India is behind China and it will take atleast 10-15yrs for India to catch up with the management practices of Japan.India is still not a free thinking country. We are still burdened with archiac laws and rules which our netas are not willing to change.Because it benefits them not to change. Yet India has progressed because of individual Brilliance. That is why you see isolated pockets of good quality practices. But the business practices developed by these Indians (which are more closely related to our culture)are also very good and we need not blindly copy the Japanese.
It is apparent that the article has been written after keen observation of the practices prevalent on both sides. Lets hope that in the need for constant improvement, we accept the thoughts of the writer...

Yes its really important to be punctual in professional life. But this can be only implemented when our experts, business gurus, ministers reinforce this issue. We always learn from our outhorities.

Live your life to the fullest - and don't believe in this Nazi-style crap. Indian youth is the smartest - visit US to see how their youth is. Indians are punctual in their own honest way - they just don't want to disspoint the host :-)

its not true.. Indians wherever they are will not loose their habbit of doing this by their own way.. means by other means.. while japanese are not so.. they go methodically and whatever they do , they do it wisely, thoughtfully and with complete understading.. which is lacking in Indians.. and yes punctuality.. you can match your clock in seconds when japanese arrive.. they are never late.. by seconds also.. this i can say because i am staying in japan for long.. and experienced it first-hand..
I read a comment about copying the Japanese. But isn't America cool. Everybody in Indian industry seems to think that American education and business is so cool. Forget copying Japanese practices. No Indian corporate, save a few can see beyond America.
(The author has spent a year in Japan studying and working in Japanese companies and the comment is well researched)
Good way to deliver and letting us know, how to lead and compete with other. Knowing client or customer is an important factor of any business. Looking forward for more of these.
