Sorry, not enterpreneur. Tata was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, and any other orifice if he so cared. Check what 'enterpreneur' means. Visionary yes! Skill...as an architect who knows? Mgmt. is an art, not skill. I think in a flamboyant, bombastic and superficial sub-continent, Tata's reticence, forthrightness and humility ... class act hai. What's his net worth?

But to give credit where credit is due, Apno Bawajee is something else...

* bachelor = bad for business, had he got married ... dowry, contacts goodwill would have multiplied. Tata would be making Indrockets, not Indica's.

*Bad habit of Mercedes, what's the message? My Tata cars are for inferior, heathen idolatorous natives.

Very bad for business. But then nobody grudges Bawa log thier car fetish.

*Did not go into aerospace! Or ship-building...even now not too late. With gas coming out of the BB (Bay of Bengal), Tata's should take-over world aluminium market, along with steel...in the long term. Yeah...Tata

By the way, we're proud of Tata, no?

this is one thing which hurts me a lot as an indian..,when someone is achieving, we try to pull the things down..i guess we can take this an example and do something bigger and better..

Yes. Hope you know the story of Indian crabs in a basket without lid. there is no need for a lid because when on crab tries to climb out the others pull it down.

Hi,

Being born with silver spoon, have lot of chance

of getting into wrong ways, as lot of money,

wealth etc. So, control those for the benefit

of him & for the country.

I know some people say, if I have million

dollars, why do I work.

But TATA didn't do like that.

Let us appreciate Mr. TATA!!!

Its easy to find out faults in a person my dear Pavan. Consider as to what he has done, not as to what he has not done :-)

Ratan tata - Man of Steel
by R Sinha on Feb 05, 2007 12:28 PM  Permalink

Who can forget corporate war between Tata & Mody over control of TISCO. That war was won by Tata with the help of Birla & FI. That made him more wise and result of his inital slogging is for us to see.

India is still a small player in the world. I think Indians go overboard over small things!

Yes, it is small in comparison but much better in terms of brand recall and quality perception.

Tan,
India is a bigger player than China when it comes to growth coupled with a vibrant democracy, sound judicial system and the largest force of English speaking new engineers. China's growth depends upon slave labour, one-party dictatorship and manufacture of cheap shoddy goods for the multinationals. Now, China is copying the colonialists in pauperising African countries!

your democracy- when we see your federal minister convicted of murder.
Sound Judicial system - i heard your president Kalam was issued a non-bailable warrant from Gujarat.
Largest force of English speaking engineers-Just look at your infrastructure, its stone age.
