balance needed
by suamnt pachori on Feb 03, 2007 07:22 PM  Permalink

the article while making some very valid points, tries to correlate events at two end of spectrum. While its true that 300m Indians are living in dire poverty, that should not shackle the rest in a "We-are-poor" mentality. We need continuous reforms along with compassion.Economic development should tickle down to poorest of poor.
Whining about Indian acquisitions wont do

The talent of the Indian entrepreneurs
by Alamelu Subramaniam on Feb 03, 2007 06:42 PM  Permalink

The acquisition by Tata"s and the Mittals needs great asppreciation. Because they have done, on their own, competing against the world"s best opponents, while in the localIndian Market, they are being hoodwinked by the government, which spends, scores of Govt. money
( taxpayer"s)in unnecessary, without planbning, extending every plan, which means plan outlay being raised many times. The Govt. run company"s run under loss( and being sold out), whilst the same, being run by the private are administered and able to show good performance of internationasl standards.
The political intervewntion, delegation of quality giving way to other unwanted political and vote catching ideas only, make the indian taxpayers burden heavy, but not the political
people realise their blunders.

Though the Govt.delay or just present Ratanb Tata with the Padmashree, for his contribution
to the country, these stalwarts, have done well beyond the expectation of their own imagination, making Indian Govt, to take a pride place in the Intertnational Arena.

HATS OFF TO ALL THE INDUSTRIAL STALKWARTS!!!

nobody writes articles to make poor rich
by sunil yadav on Feb 03, 2007 06:41 PM  Permalink

there is no article from business standard or any body who suggests any practical thing to make a road/bridge, or how people be better below poverty line , there are magic points given for bosses, share brokers, or car purchasers,
the writer himself is a arranger for Aly Khan marriage with Rita Hayworth, he made complaints ...and never gave a single point to improving indian living conditions...

I would like rediff to take initiative on this , rather than wasting its space for these articles.
