The Sun drwons in Alcohol
by Abhinav Bhatnagar on Dec 31, 2007 03:23 PM  Permalink

Mr. Mallaya is using alcohol money to kill common man's dream of flying.
As there is no competition with foreign Liquor brands, he makes a lot of money and uses it to pursue his fantasies(calendar etc.).

He should be awarded the best national award, he risked and ventured into the modern aviation for one and all, his co was about to go in loss, maybe thanks to viajay mallaya, otherwise he is is thanked every day by thousands for the inexpensive air fare, which even our govts failed, the white elephants like indiaen and air india are the best example of the worst ability of govt and its rulers some time they call it navratna etc gopinath should be given the Bharat ratna /or bharat ratna

I will never use deccan now
by Atul Kumar on Dec 31, 2007 03:18 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Although I fly 2-3 times in an year, but there are many people like me. Earlier, I never used to bbok any other ticket, but deccan only. That was simply for the reason that Deccan allowed refund like any other full service airlines. Now that they have stopped it and going on the bad model of issuing 6 month coupons which can be used by the pasengers alone and no one else, I will book their ticket only in emergency and when dead sure about the flying date.

I do not care if water is sold or available free on the board as long as it was available and tickets were resonably priced. I do not need maharaja's treatment for a 2 hours flight. Hopefully, Kingfisher will die its painful death or mallya will see the ratinale behind deccans' earlier followership. Dude mallya, Not evryone in India is a beer drinking, going-with-the-16-years-babe-at-60 years-of-age. I hope Gopinath is able to strst afresh a new airlines and show mallya that price is more sesnisble thing for many than elite tretment.

Air Deccan was and is a thief. I was booked in their Kolkata - Guwahati flight in February this year which was cancelled after I reached airport at 4.30 A.M. in the morning and I had to travel to my destination by another airline, SpiceJet after I purchased fresh tickets. Even after prolonged correspondence and visits to their office the amount was not refunded. Finally after 7 months they informed me that the amount cannot be refunded because they have migrated to another system. What an excuse!!! The CMD should be put to jail for such fraud.

Air Deccan
by Abdul on Dec 31, 2007 03:16 PM  Permalink

Well one thing is correct I flied Air Deccan 8 times and out of that 4 times was with zero value ticket, that time taxes were only 975/-.
As far as punctuality is considered the airline reached the destination before time everytime.
The hospitality was far better tha Sahara and Indigo and the staff far more courtious.
Overall Air deccan was the best low cost airline and I really miss it.
Hats off to Cap. Gopinath for showing the skies to many Indians who would otherwise would have never thought of flying.
Thank You Sir.

Cannot agree with Captain Gopinath's baiters
by AK Kumar on Dec 31, 2007 03:09 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I have flown Air Deccan all across the country, many, many times and I must say my experience was pretty, pretty good. What people fussed over were trivials without realising that they were paying on Rs 2000 odd for a fare that was normally worth Rs 10,000.

The crafts were always good, and the pilots excellent. The food and drinks served inside were very well priced and affordable.

Regarding delays, its all rubbish. When there was fog, every airline delayed. It had become a habit to criticise Deccan and I have come across many Deccan baiters who have actually never flown Deccan but had "heard" from their best friend, etc.

Captain Gopinath has been to civil aviation industry what Dhirubhai Ambani had been to telecommunication. He brought aviation to the masses and you can thank him every time you fly the Indian skies cheap. Given the ways of Indian airlines, Jet and Kingfisher, they would strip you naked for flying.

The only airline who has the possibility to fill Deccan's slot is Indigo. I hope for the sake of Indian customers, Indigo retains its identity, brand and corporate philosophy.

Captain Gopinath should indeed be rewarded with a national honour for bringing a wonderful concept to India. He may have failed in the long run but he has given a new direction. Thanks to him, I have been to different parts of India which I would have never been able to travel otherwise.

I doff my hat to Captain Gopinath.

well said, Mr Kumar. your letter has the correct perspective and balance. I have flown Air Deccan several times and the experience has been pleasant nearly every time. i used to tell my friends that it is in India's interest that Air Deccan succeeds, because it will take aviation to the next level.Capt Gopinath can be proud of being a trendsetter and for making flying the common man's way too .

Dream also come true
by sri krishna on Dec 31, 2007 03:08 PM  Permalink

Gopinath really proved that dream will also come true in the situation of nobody come forward. 3 years back there was huge amount to spend for air travel. After his tremendous vision, he concluded and shown million that thius way also possible. This is also done by Ambani in mobile revolution. So New thing and new idea where possibilies into reality are to be appreciated. Business competitions are always be there.

I am wishing Mr. Gopinath for his good dream maked into reallity for many millions irrespective of long run achievement or shorter time.

Vanishing of Common Man's dream of flying
by prasanta chakraborty on Dec 31, 2007 03:06 PM  Permalink

What Mr. Gopinath did was fantastic to the aviation industry in India. As soon as Mr Mallaya entered Deccan middle class people like us knew we will never be able to fly again regularly. The Common Man of Laxman cartoon, the symbol of Deccan, may have spoken for the first time in his life "Goood bye Common Man's flight dreams." Low budget airlines have survived and made profits ultimately. Thumbs down to Mr. Mallya. But thanks once again Mr. Gopinath.
