Tatas the pride of India
by Natesh on Dec 21, 2007 11:07 AM  Permalink

I know many people disagree with me. Though i am not working for any Tata group i am great admirer of this company. They were the first to start an Airline in our country before Nehru nationalized and made it Air India (the worst service provider in India now). Had Air India not been nationalized it would be the world's best airline now. Many people are concerned about traffic, pollution, safety (list is endless) about the 1 lakh car. In India many families have 2 or 3 bikes, now they can afford 1 car. A man riding a bike carrying a wife, 2 kids are more dangerous on the roads than a car carrying a family. Two wheeler traffic is becoming unmanagable in city roads since we dont have any lane system(talkin about manjority of Indian cities). Its true our energy requirements will be more now. Imagine many small vendors (builders, carpenters, shop keepers, plumbers, electricians, vegetable vendors) carrying too many things on a bike which is more dangerous now they can carry it on in the 1 lakh car. Tatas have generated a million jobs in the country which is feeding 3 or 4 million people indirectly. They have bought Corus, Tetley Tea, US coffee makers, Daewood, (now Land rover), many IT companies in Latin America. Mr. Ratan Tata we salute you with great pride. Spread your wings and create more jobs and wealth. JRD Tata will be truely proud of you

Won't it be better Ms. Anu, if you state clearly about your grievance.
Once in public forum, perhaps everybody has the right to understand the issue.

In most issues on the comments, my observation says every individual posting comments (as always there are a lot of exceptions) are trying for ONE - UPMANSHIP and in the process abusing the others.
Looking at the disharmony generated in this comments forum, I would rather suggest Rediff to COMPLETELY STOP allowing public from posting their comments.

TATA cars were recently rated as the worst cars in South Africa. They were No. 23 and took the last place. Qulaity is simply not the strength of the Tatas.

Its good but....
by vu basic on Dec 20, 2007 07:25 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Good to see indian company can make cheapest 4 wheeler though sans any safety and environment friendly consciousness. It would be gr8 feat to see they acheive that. This will drastically improve auto industry for its parts as totally indigenous. having said that indian towns / citys jostle to accomodate these many cheap cars on road raising to more accidents, traffic hazards, pollution. This tendency might spread to villages and C towns spreading pollution to farms which will effect even agricultural output. My request to Tatas and gov is limit this sales to towns first and not to metros pls.

Well, i think we might see an actual reduction in injuries as two wheelers suffer the most injuries in accidents. Also, in general cars make traffic a little more predictable than 2 wheelers. So, i won't be surprised if things get better!

Pollution concerns?
by I on Dec 20, 2007 07:17 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

All those people who are so concerned about pollution : - I hope you don't drive a car/scooter/bike or any other gas guzzler.
We usually have this mentality that "I" should have everything, but others shouldn't, as it is
bad.
We should first start good habits ourselves for helping environment before asking others to do so.

Someone said...
"Kuch is tarah chale is jamane main hawa!
Sara shahar jal jaye, ek mere ghar ko chhod ke!"

Wah wah kya shayari hai. It is very nice and I agree with you completely. I remember that I was once talking to a friend of mine. One day she was complaining about traffic problem. During discussion I said that some families have more than one car. Even if two people from that family have to reach the same place, then also they use their respective cars rather than using the same. When I said this, she suddenly became offensive. She agreed that some families do this but she said that it did not cause any traffic problem. I was shocked as to why she took offense. Later I came to know that in her family, there were three cars.
On another occasion, she was pointing out many causes of pollution - industries, uncleanliness, autos, buses etc. But she was not ready to accept that cars also caused some pollution.
This is the mentality. Blame others for everything.
