kudos to the author
by MURALI SUBRAMANIAM on Dec 15, 2007 08:03 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

atleast in this article "Bank of England (BoE), is referred as the UK counterpart of RBI", instead of saying "Bank of England is like its indian counterpart RBI"

Because, almost in all the articles i see that the indian institutes are being referred to or termed as a counterpart of another foreign institute.

anyway, kudos to the author.

Historically recession cycle of USA economies is about 12-15 years in between there are only very short term slowdown. Last time we have seen major recession in 2001-2002. Its seems HDFC is not listening to this person view thats why he is posting it on rediff.

Dear friend, the question is whether its going to affect Indian ecomnomy. I work in a MNC and in last week we had a presentation from our Businees Head in US. As per presenatiom, evem with rate cuts by FED bank and other measures, US economy will be gloomy till 2009. and if worst happens, then God only knows, how long that will continue.
So we must be ready for worst. Our major business is US centric. Almost 80% of IT companies survives because of US. If Nasdaq falls our sensex too falls. At this point of time, we can't delink from US.
The people who talk about infrastructure development / job growth in India, must understand that this all depends on US. The money generated by Indian companies by exporting service to US have triggered growth in India.

Balance of Power has already shifted to China. Demand is now only with the oil based economies. US is just a debt-ridden economy; you can't generate demand with debt, mate! India's exports is quietly shifting to other countries.

How much trade do we do with China in comparison to the USA ? China is a difficult customer to sell to as they are themselves exporters and will go to any price level to earn a dollar.

YOU ARE WRONG ---
DO YOU THINK THAT YOU WILL GET BACK 12 RUPEES PETROL AND 3 RUPEES KEROSINE?
DO YOU THINK YOU WILL GET BACK 5 RUPEES MEALS AND 1 RUPPEES TRANSPORT....

INDIANS ARE BEYOND THAT POINT. WHEN RECESSION STARTS

POOR PEOPLE WILL BE HIT HARD (THOSE WHO DO NOT SAVE) - THEY WILL DIE WITHOUT FOOD, WATER AND MEDICINE UNLESS THEY GO BACK TO THE VILLAGES
CPM VOTE BANK...
--------------

MIDDLE CLASS WILL SUFFER - THEY WILL SUFFER. THEY WILL BE UNABLE TO PAY THE MORTGAGE.. THEY HAVE TO FIND CHEAPER RENTED HOUSES AND LIVE OFF THE SAVINGS SINCE THEY HAVE LOST ALL OTHER SKILL SETS (OTHER THAN IT) THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO FIND A DIFFENT KIND OF JOB...
BJP VOTE BANK IN CERTAIN STATES...
--------------
UPPER CLASS- NOT LIKLEY TO SUFFER AT ALL...

ALL THESE BECUASE INDIA'S SKILL SETS ARE FOCUSED ONLY IN ONE OR TWO AREAS... INDIANS ARE VERY BACKWARD IN ALL OTHER AREAS THAN NON-PATENED INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY...
