Day is not far off
by savior on Aug 24, 2007 02:03 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

when India will be divided. Not by any external agencies but by Indians themselves. Just look at this statements contending that Reliance and Tata are outsiders. It is time to let TN secede from India if they dont want to be part of India. They only want to be part of India if something is beneficial to them.

Im not a tamilian but i feel that the natl. language was forccefully implemented- only north indians (form haryana, UP, Bihar, Delhi, Rjasthan and MP)spoke it but it was decided to make hindi the language. tamilians are justifed if they cohooose bot to learn it. narathi, bengali, tmail, kannada, telugu, malayalam were not taken into account

This guy is a wily politician. Reliance probably bribed every politician to launch its outlets. They wud have forgotten a certain Ramadoss. Now that he has made his point clear and He gets his money, Reliance will then certainly be welcome in Tamil Nadu.

Big retailers are bad for the country like ours
by MG on Aug 24, 2007 02:00 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

For a change I agreee with that organised retailers would have a negative impact on our society as a whole. We still are a ppor country and we need to create more jobs and more avenues of earnings. Ltes not get carried away by by the initial low prices which these retalers offer. Its all marketing strategy. lets go to a western country and understand the whole dynamics. if you are in US or Uk or any other devoped country and wish to say buy a shirt or some vegetables you have necessarily to go a big retailer and sheel out a huge amount. There are no small shopkeepers like we have. Our folks in India are still able to survive despite their meagre earnings because of these small time traders who don't calculate their own efforts in their costing. They don't have any overheads and survive on low margins.

What I would though support is a good wholesale system where-in farmers can come and sell their produce at good rates and retailers can also pick up the stuff from there for further distribution.

We are a unique country with different set of probelems and social structure. Our economic model also needs to be different than of that of west.

Great idea!!!
Who is going to implement that system???? Dont tell me this impotents of our Govt. who cannot even think.. forget implementing it.. Everyone knows the Agri GDP component has been falling drastically in India more than any developing country... Why the hell we still believe these guys, who are trying to create an impotent INDIA.
One other commercial guy wud come up with a better idea when the market is free. There are multiple options to regulate things, when its critical.. but lets not stop growth, which anyway this govt. cannot do even in next 60 yrs.

Shame On these Politicians
by Kishore B on Aug 24, 2007 01:56 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It's cheap way of keeping one self in limelight. There are tens of thousands of issues in TN itself which the common people are facing. Poor drainage system, messy transportation, horrible road conditions, illegal encroachment, abuse of public proporty, drinking water problem, etc,,etc,,,..the list can go on. Why this learned politician work on any of these things. Why can not he be a public figure in addressing the issues which is hampering the growth of the very state. ANd why he is calling TATA's and Reliance outsiders....what does that mean. God give these politicians some sence. 6o years of reeedom from what ..we are celeberating...so called independance...we need an independance from such people and such idiology. SO long as such people exist in the socity..the prosperity and the development shall be limited. Only because of inspired individuals, like, Tulsi Thanti, TATA's, Ambanies,Narayanmurthy's etc..the country is going global. I guess these politicians should stay away from meddling in the development. Yes, the constitution should be amended not for giving any privilages based on caste, but to nail such people. We do not need any cast based privilages. As Narayanmurthy rightly said" We are the only nation who fight for calling ourself Backward" shame on us. We need inspired leaders and not politicians like Ramdossa, Karunnnidhi, Mayawathi, Mamata Banarjee, Devegowda....people like them should be banned from public life. Than only we can celeberate the real independ

I would love a public answer from him on this

All lining up to get paid kickbacks from Reliance, since Reliance has a reputation for greasing palms, it is now paying the price for that reputation.

he is indeed safeguarding the retailer "SUBHIKSHA", which belongs to "HIS" state... (READ - http://www.rediff.com/money/2007/feb/05bspec.htm)...
In March, 1997, opened first store in Thiruvanmiyoor in Chennai, By March 1999, 14 stores, expanded to 50 stores by June 2000. In the next two years, had 120-130 stores across Tamil Nadu. Today, have 145 stores all over Tamil Nadu. Already term themselves India's largest retail chain store with 500-plus stores & plan to have 1,000-plus stores by the end of this year.

WHAT SAY GUYS??????

How so true. We certainly do not need Reliance. Nor we need any private insitution for that cause.
Let him ask his kids to study in a Tamil medium government school, and then let him work in government job, plying daily on a state transport city bus and wearing only khadi.
These dumb people have ruined India, not letting either private companies to grow, nor public sector ones.
