conceptual Brahmanism
by on Sep 08, 2007 05:46 PM  Permalink

conceptual Brahmanism is very much the truth with Indian Companies. I have been working for the past 5 years in top IT concerns in India and I find this a very simple fact. Not to be harsh on the brahmains, they are people too but they see to that the whole of their community benefits. CTS chennai has all top level people being tamil brahamins and EDS chennai also has the same, they dont want anyone else but a brahamin to suceed them, so the company still remains in their control. TCS has the same problem with tamil brahamins Infosys has Kannada Brahamins. HSBC Pune has preference for Marati Brahamins first..........this is a never ending saga..............the government has to take some action on these companies...put these brahamins behind bars........all their family....get rid of these fellows who practice brahmanism in companies.

Full of crap
by on Aug 10, 2007 06:17 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This article is full of crap. Firstly there is an unnecessary reference to caste and south Indians. In a global market place, where the Indian software industry competes and thrives, there is no place for this kind of non-sense. Having worked in the Indian software industry and now outsourcing to them, I find them to be truly equal opportunity employees. Yes, there will be some amount of politics in all organizations.

A couple of decades ago American newspapers and commentators said the same about another set of companies - Honda, Toyota and Nissan - they cannot compete at the high end and are low tech and so on. We know the rest.

The lesson from the auto companies is that the Indian software industry must really focus on only one thing - the quality. The Japanese auto executives focused on quality instead of making deals and the rest is history.

Acquisitions for the sake of satisfying Wall Street are actually senseless. Having said all this, there are a couple of areas of concerns. Firstly, the secondary treatment provided to the local market. Is it that they do not care about India or is it because they do not want to enter the realm of kickbacks to secure government contracts? The second concern is the appalling low levels of R&D expenses - if the figures in this article are right, INFY, which is a multi-billion dollar organization, spends $12 millions on R&D. For heavens sake, you are supposed to be hi-tech companies please open up the purse strings for R&D spending.

Indian advantage (Indian mentality) will not go away
by S Hegde on Aug 10, 2007 04:42 PM  Permalink

So called Indian advantage is the low-cost. Once that advantage is gone, Indian companies will have a hard time. Indian companies ignored R&D/product development and local market for too long, blinded by $ margins. It's funny that Infy says "home market has reached a level of maturity.", they saw the maturity only after their US margins went down and IBM/Accenture started eating their Indian Lunch.

Rediff is creating hatred between Uppercastes and lower castes
by Viti Paul on Aug 10, 2007 01:49 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen including our deadly soma

Rediff often puts up articles on the following topics.

1. Reservations issues
2. Sachin Tendulkar
3. South/North

Broadly talking Companies have social responsibilities but basically business is done to make profits and sustain growth

Not to serve the poor or downtrodden. That is the job of the Goverment and it can be never achieved by Reservations

For eg. Amit is jobless and hungry. What is the solution. Empower him to earn for himself by guiding him.

Instead if you give him free food or subsidy then how long can you sustain. This is basically not workable at all

So the primary education should be good. Give enough support moral and financial to these little kids and prepare to face competitive exams.

One need not be very intelligent to pass BE Exams. Once has to have some decent IQ and put hardwork. In fact good memory is more than sufficient with hard work.

So dear friends, lets not hate each other instead help some kid with education.

Please spare atleast 100 rupees a month for this cause

Think about it ?

Love you all guys !! We are all Indians

Best Regards

What a hoot - the pot (Sai person) calling the kettle (Kripalani person) 'black'.
Just a heads-up - there's no such thing as 'caste' - it's just a fabrication, like Brahmins. So there!

Paramesh

ALSO give your reference of proof that someone YOU consider as Brahmin and thereby in the process you yourself consider as superior than you has to fulfill all the 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. list of points you listed.

What is the logic of those 5 points to be fulfilled ??? And Why should those 5 points be used as a guaging standard??

A person by any name like Amit, Rahul, Girish can easily pass of as a normal human being UNTILL vultures like you will pounce in his background wasting idle and ample time which you surely must be having in plenty......and to discover the biggest invention since the invention of the wheel..Yes..that person is a Brahmin indeed...!! Eureka Eureka..Now go and run outside the house and tell the whole town about your discovery..All the best.

Indian IT cos need to agressively hire Indian M.S and MBA grads in the US
by BostonPunekar on Aug 09, 2007 03:17 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

India has the largest number of student applicants to US Colleges and Universities and infact Indians are the largest ethnic block of people passing out of the colleges and Universities in the US.

Now here is the problem, after the student passes out of the respective colleges and Universities (and carry with them debt of the education cost) they have to still frantically search for a Job that too after doing a M.S.!!

If the US based Indian companies are hiring agressively why cant they hire passing out Indian students and rotate them to and fro India as per requirement. The person who has studied in the US is already culturally oriented well. Its a matter of giving an opportunity. This would take away the sting of the pathetic desi consulting companies who exploit these fresh college and universitiy passouts as they sponser their H1B's.

It would be a good meeting ground of Indian companies hiring talented Indian students who have furthered their Masters education in the U.S and Indian students passing out who have to run around desperately to find a H1B sponserer.!!!

Its high time this starts to happen regularly.

I have to tell you my friend. Within TCS, minimum salary is 60 K (I am talking about minimum). People are getting 200 and 300 K easily. Biggest problem is that working in offshore and onsite model is NOT easy. The people who are educated here are looking for easy life which is not possible in this model.

"People are getting 200 and 300 K easily." Easily :) If TCS is paying min 60k then the market rate must be 80k. I have seen TCS for 15 years, they will not pay unless they don't have any options to attract/retain people. That's a fact.
About Indian IT companies in general, they all work in low cost model (whatever they may claim). IF they pay anyone little more, then they will make sure that they extract lot more from that person.
It's funny to see Infy say "home market has reached a level of maturity." You are a Indain company and until IBM/Accenture started taking away the big deals in India, you didn't see the market as mature market. Why don't you just say that your US margins are not as good as they used to be, suddenly indian market looks mature.

Guys lets ignoes, Amit Kumars of India.
by Sonu on Aug 09, 2007 01:41 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Guys, people like Amit Kumar will never understand what "hard work", "quality" means, because they have never seen those things past thousands of years( the funds of suffering since thousands of years is given by them only)

And we being good human beings, good citizens of india, need to just think about the progress of india, and of course progress of our own lives.

One management lesson suggests that, a person or decision can not make every one happy. while few will be happy with a decision, there will always remain atleast one person or group that is not going to be happy with the decision.

So lets move on, lets leave these Amit Kumars on their own, lets not get into the funda that we need to care for the society collectively, those who would work hard, will and should be able to enjoy the fruits only.

Lets move on, lets ignore them, please do not respond to their messages on the board further.

I would request all of people who had been writing against Amit Kumar's message, please do not respond to this message, if amit kumars' write anything in response to my msg, lets not waste our time and energy to keep on talking to them. lets make it final message of the day. and lets put our useful energy in building a great nation and great life for our own family.

Jai Hind.

PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS MGS, LET AMIT KUMARS WRITE ANYTHING THEY FEEL LIKE.
