I have seen that at quite number of places on NH7 where road is wide (4 lane) and one can easily reach 100 kmph but sign boards say speed limit as 40kmph or 30kmph. But funny part is within the Bangalore city I have seen boards with speed limit 50kmph at curves. Don't know who installs those boards. Looks like Public works Engineering Dept is sleeping and not feeling pinch even after writing this issue in many papers for manytimes.
totally agree with all your viewsits ridulous that our babus havent graduated at all even after information boom. but as regard to speed limit i think it is the super efficient delhi police job . In andhra which has an excellent road network and pleasure to drive the speed limit even on State Highway is 100. Thank god for that. neyaz

I agree with you Karthik, Its true, not just in US, when they travel out of india, they follow Law of the Land....
But, I have not seen the Expressway mentioned above, I live in China, here on Expressway, minimum speed of the Vehicle must be 60, max limit for Carriage is 80 Kms, Bus - 100 and cars - 120 Kms... but no Bikes, Auto, walking not allowed.
Totally protected roads, its very hard for people to stray into the Expressway (Xpresway).
In India, I think (Since last 3 years I have not been to Noida/Delhi), people walk on the road, cattle menance, given these problems, its safe to follow low speed limits...
