Exports are meant to increase prices in India
by Harsharan Singh on Apr 28, 2007 03:55 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is a anti-national activeity to export mangoes to other counteries where as we producers are denied to eat them because pricies are very high in India. It is only CONGRESS goverment who believes in exporting things thus creating shortage in India with which prices go high and things go out of reach of a common person. Same is the case with other items used by comman person. Only surplus things should be exported. With librisation Fiat & Ambassosdor cars were shown way out and other cars came in with which there is huge comsumption of petrol / diesel, now to buy fuels we have to go to other counteries and spend what we have earned. This slow method of undermining of indian economy is leading us to SALAVERY in near future. We should stop exporting and IMPORTING HARLE DAVIDSON etc just for fun of CORROUPT / IRRESPONSIBLE ctizens of India. People should wake up and stop this ANTI-NATIONAL activities.

Why are we being so negative? India can produce ten times more mangoes than what we produce right now. Mango trees are very hardy and need to be watered only for the first 3-5 years and then do not require much water. They also grow relatively well on rocky soil. India is such a big country and mangoes can grow all over South & West Indiaand there are nearly a thousand varieties. Also so much of our land lies fallow and unutilised because of poor irrigation facilities. So the Govt should encourage farmers and village people to plant more mango trees. Let us grab this opportunity with both hands. And I agree that the farmers should profit and not just the traders. Co-operatives is a possible answer

you fool. what is going to happen is that quality is going to improve. they will start controlling pesticides and then it may become a norm soon.

cost of mangoes... well it is demand and supply. more farmers will grow mangoes....

Don't forget that India's current high growth is attributed to opening of the economy.. the same import & (more importantly) export of goods. You may have a point in criticising Mango export. But generalizing it might be too much.

Dear pathak ji,

what logic you apllied for this presumption ?? Mangoes if exported will lead to less quantity available in india and the rich here will pay more price for the bad quality even and the middle and poor class will be deprived...so prices will shoot up no matter what quality is exported

No big deal

Of course the Mexican and South american mango varieties are different from Desi varieties. They have their own characteristic look, flavor, taste and aroma. It cannot be said one is better than the other. Just like Salma Hayek's are different from Mallika's. Wouldn't you agree?

"Just like Salma Hayek's are different from Mallika's" --- ultimately they are females. Likewise, even its from S America or Mexico., they are still mangoes! The Base taste remains same.

However to inform you all that we are continously exporting Alphonso and Keshar mango pulp in USA processed through the Aseptic and canning technology. Futher Be prepared that this is a indelible blemishnesh to our part that our agricultral practices are taken 18 years to satisfy the USFDA and EPA and AIJN requirement for 150 corton of Fresh fruit. Furthermore be also prepared for querntine /rejection of consignment after 15000 cortons ,as indian never beleaVE TO COMPLY FULLY WITH THE ASTRINGENT LEGISLATION IN PLACE for AGMP and Sanitary and child labours .

Indian Mangoes land in US
by kunuthur srinivas on Apr 28, 2007 03:38 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is quite heartening that Indian Mango finds a pride of place in international market that it richly deserves. The export eventually creates great demand for production in India, thus benefiting the producers, processors and business men. It is essential to produce organic mangoes to further increase the potential for export to all countries of the world given the ideal soil and climatic conditions in India for mango culture.

we njoy by all means the veggies n fruits tht we get to buy at reasonable prices.. but once u get out of india n come to places like usa, aust u'll recognise its value when u have to buy "A mango" for $3 (i.e. 90Rs) and other stuffs for such terrible prices, and tastin awful.

good goin , we wish other countries would also allow d exportin of quality fruits from india and sell for reasonable prices!!
