No this is true, I have read the news in todays Economic Times. The funding will be from a corpus where all the telecome companies have to pay 5% of their TO every year and at the end of March'2007 it will be Rs. 9,124 crore and only 25% of the corpus will be spend on it. The free connections will be through BSNL & MTNL only.

When will it come true?
by satish kumar singh on Apr 26, 2007 04:15 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Mr. Maran when will it come true? Are you waiting for general election to come? If it is so, then forget about any mileage or benifits out of it.

Your 'One India' plan for mobile phone is nothing but an eyewash and making the peole fool. When one move on roaming, the charges is not Re.1.00 but it coast more than Rs.2.40 and above.

free broadband
by SHAJI DANIEL on Apr 26, 2007 04:13 PM  Permalink

It is really good to hear about a dream of Free broadband since the existing ISP's are not doing well with their services.Most of them are rated below in their services.Paid services deliver inferior in quality. Many of them having callcentre or customer care where they take complaints with sweet sound but after that nothing happens.

Hope this dream will not become a political gimmick.
let God help

dear venkatram krishnamurthy , try and understand that with entire infrastructure cost realised longback. all the ISP are taking the indian public for a ride. the free broadband is quiet possible.
another exapmle : we use to fly from hyd to delhi by indian airlies at 11000/- one way.. see what is happening today at 7000/- you can go and come back. which means Indian airlines was looting the public. Everything is possible we need to have a determination to implement thats all !!!!

Yes. I agree. The same BSNL was looting people with Rs 1/- per 2 seconds for a call from Delhi to Chennai not so long ago. Now they are able to offer much better service at Rs 1/- per minute. Keep the good work Maran.
