he is killing two or three birds at one go..... 1. fully utelise his cd making plants which are fully depricitaed now so capital cost is zero 2. buy insurance from newer technologies like blue ray making him out of business 3. kill piracy... piracy hurts him because pirates use cheap chinese imports so this way he is kicking both pirates and chinese cd makers out 4. if his cd s are decent quality people will wait for him to buy rights at low prices after a week or two of teh film release.
good brainy idea but good for film lovers . who wants bad quality pirated films?
Moser Baer is doing no good afterall right from copy right owners to distributors all want to earn money, and movie sells on its merits, price doesnt matter for movie crazy people to buy a favourite movie at 200 or 300.
Moser Baer can only sell regional contents at 28 rs & 34 rs, not the international dvds and vcds.

price does matter in a price sensitive market & india is one....and with india's craze for all things "phoreign" & the growing no. of global call centres....intnl titles will definitely do well !
This is the best way to stop piracy. By giving DVDs avd Cds at so cheap rates nobody will buy pirated stuffs. So it is the best and most effective method.

What's your problem with piracy ? are you a producer/distributor. the movie thetres in metros like Mumbai,B'lore have raised the price so high (Rs.250 per ticket !!)that its almost impossible to watch every movie there. if we get the DVD original in a cheaper format, then its most welcome. These multiplexes are parasites sucking the money. There should be some law governing the ticket rates and put control over these people.
actually this is not as rosy as it sounds! first of al moser baer has only 60 movies in hindi! secondly out of these all the good ones are 'out of stock'.
lastly where is T series selling its dvd's?any idea? nothing is available on its website.
and ultra hasnt cut prices at all! most of their dvds are at 200!
