Yes. I agree. But careful investments in selected Chitfunds like Shriram or Margadarsi can give better returns. But if you invest in Mutual Funds, just because its a fashion to speak up in terms of Stocks and Shares and with out in depth knowledge, you may end up losing your money day-by-day and finally you don't whether to cry or not.

So, what's wrong in being fashionable? If MFs are in fasion, why not? Yes, we can begin conservatively and invest thru the SIP option for a year, see the fund's performance (and ur own risk appetite) and then decide on whether u want to experiment some more with the MF "fashion".
Friends, you have missed by oversight what Ram has written. He has not asked you to INVEST in Chit Fund. He has asked to JOIN it. He is clever. He urges all to join so that we can become partners in the run. But first time I am hearing that people running away with Fund money make 15-18%. lol.
