Again, the formula for wider development and income growth is blue collar manufacturing industry. This is how all developed countries have climbed up, and even China is now doing this. Blue collar industry allows unskilled people to work, and so there is no bar on entry. This is what India needs.
the current definition is poverty is different from what you have said. It is less than 1800 calorie and less than Rs.4000 per year. That is the reason poverty rate suddenly came down to 26 percent. if we use the earlier defition of 2400 Calorie or Rs.5000 per year the poverty rate will be about 55 percent.
As long as people having greed and lust, the poverty will exist and shining. We have to calculate the povery rate during Churchil tenure in India with 40crore population and the present 100crore population.I request the Chennai based CA to reform the ethics of CAs in order show an example for all the peoples in India.
"All indian leaders will be of low caliber...." If you are trying to make a point about lack of development in India, you should probably not start off with a racist comment from Churchill. Churchill advocated British imperialism, and therefore his opinions regarding the colonies are often geared towards justifying imperialism.

No he was talking about leadership. If you replace 'All' with 'Most' in his sentance you can see he was very right!

great reply man. Author have seen limited world... Mr Venkat, do you know india and china used to contribute 40% of world GDP till 1726. It s only after British rule (stronger hold after 1726), Indian economy deterioted to this extent. No doubt we have hell lots of problems...and one main factors all people do not participate in election (thats why rotten leaders), but we have achieved enough withon 50 years on independence. Only country which remind of better growth - Japan (even after disaster - second war, they came to rule world economically ... but they were king and went down for small time only 1945 post period). indian blood has been sucked not years, deacades but centuries and 1000 years (since muslim attack 1100AD period).
it takes time to recover... but I agree we can achieve much better growth rate than curent one.

It is our leaders directly, we indirectly, have made this racist comment of Churchill a 100% truth
It is not the way "we" define poverty Idiot. It is the way UN and CIA define poverty. Here is the link for poverty in India.
https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/in.html The indian poverty rate is 25%(2002). Now it must have reduced even more. A gora has given the figure, you happy now?
1) The abhorrent practice of manual scavenging continues even today That will reduce once more and more jobsare created. Incidenally in the past 5 years,India ranked the first in job creation (50 million new jobs) 2) Quality of education and curative health services are beyond the reach of the common man and those provided by the private sector are costly and of variable quality. Thats a universal problem. In the US 47 million Americans cannot afford health care
3) The cost of displacements of our tribal population is high Yes but we need land for development. You whine when there is development and whine when there is no development
Drop out rate in primary schools for the country as a whole was at a staggering 31 p.c Its coming down, as our literacy rates improve
Unfortunately I dont have space to address all your points. Anything multiplied by zero is still zero and that includes your IQ. Really what have you done to improve the state of affairs,do you bribe officials,do you vote for honest politicians,If no then shut the f*ck up.
when i was a kid misbehaved in a gathering of our colony ..my father came n was abt to slap me but b4 him colony president did that...now what my father should have done????what ur father should have done..i think ur father should for urself urmisbehaviour can be corrected at home..may b ur father wont tolerate any outsider dare to speak even a word.its better to kick churchill ass n work hard to be a better nation
If you look at the scenario after independence Nehru did the right 5 year planning and generated sufficient Jobs.
The problem only arose out of a sudden population explosion and it's going to take some time factor to bring equilibrium between jobs and propulation growth.
Thirdly regarding Idiots Politicians well then we are worse cos we only elect them. We need a total structural change in Education where we are to be taught that doing any kind of a job is worthy of self respect. E.g. here in Australia the other day the Human Resources GM spilled something in the canteen and he didn't feel any shame in going to fetch a Mob from the Cleaners room and wiping the area clean in front of hundreds of other workers. Tell bad about these britishers but when you see such things you can admire the attitude these people have. In India even a Office Peon wouldn't have done it and would have expected the cleaner to do it.
We need today some good basic education for the forth coming education and the present can and will have to start it rather waiting for some one else. Because now is the time for the next phase of movement that India needs if done good and not done then india's gone to the - as Churchill said.
After independence corruption level has reached to all levels at brisk pace.
Now its a system which has its own tree and its branches spread all over. You occupy any position from MLA, Minister, MP, PM or President, you would get a fixed income that comes automatically from whatever may be the sources. Whether it is a police station, Courts, Magistrates, Govt. Departments, Journalists, Contracts, Deals, Public Works, Rationing, Scholarships, compensations, Jobs or whatever may be the resource. There is a system that is taking every effort to pass on corruption.
Other that this there are deals that includes all issues from Bofors, Babri Masjid, Telangana, Muslim Personal law. Every issue has a label and price.
So we need another very strict system, disciplined Administrators, Intellectuals, Beaurocrats and leaders to replace the corrupt Politicians and Administration.

Indira Gandhi was strict, raised taxes, imposed emergency etc. In return corruption and smuggling increased and population control became worse. Moraji Desai banned alcohol and that increased corruption even more. Advani tried to be tough with terrorists and violence in Kashmir increased.
Instead of being strict we need to change our attitude, ideas and priorities instead of being stuck with outdated ones.

Fantastic Syed...I appreciate your comments. Really thoughtful, frank and apt.
How in your view can we move over to the 'strict' system from the current system of 'rascals'?
