Hey all, Please do not under-estimate the power of corporates-politicians-bureacrates. These guys would gobble up the entire country and all of u would be just posting messages on the net. Even the communists have been paid off and after UP elections, the loot would begun again.

you meet any farmer in the country and none of them want their kids to become and suffer like them. they want them to work in offices like all of you in an air-con environment. in this SEZ vs farmers, the farmers are fighting a losing battle.
The only state which has pushed for state acquiring land has been West Bengal. It shows their fascist attitude of wanting to snatch away things from people which belongs to them for the so called "greater good". Most industrialists are also scumbags who want to use the state to snatch away land from their rightful owners instead of directly negotiating and paying the market price for the land. I see no need to have any SEZ when the entire country should be seen as an SEZ and allowed to develop accordingly.

why blame the industrilists and capitalist. you are electing a..hole politicians who will sell their da...t.r for the right price. so what is needed is the right policy and law implementation. when the industrialists are ready to pay market price and give jobs for the farmers and the next generation can/will be sitting like you in the office and progress why you want the frmers to toil with soil at the mercy of rain and othr unpredictable things so the need of the hour is to regulate and hold responsible the sez promoter what they sign
otherwise we can't expect progress and 1 billion of indians will be only numbers and nothing else
Don't give excuse you can't deal with individual farmer,Your company deals with so many supplier, consumers. these do not even comprise of 1% of total what you all have handled in your marketing and supplyin activity.so thi sis jus an excuse.
Who will take care of the interest of farmer , congress has done nothing for so many years.
Mr. Dhoot go and study the Gujrat Model,Mr. Mody had been successful on this.
The SEZ policy like most other policies is a mess because of the politician-corporate-land mafia nexus. Politicians have cornered land using the mafia and now are waiting to palm it of to the highest bidders using the SEZ act. Corporates of course have no problems buying from these cartels since they don't have to do the dirty work. Of course they would prefer the govt's stamp on it!
Also it is often mentioned that "it will be difficult for the govt. to do this or that till elections are over". But then how is it that the govt. is willing to do that "something" after being elected, and which is not possible when elections are down the corner. It shows how the so called "elected reps" work for their selfish interests once they get elected to office.
In a way the government should ensure that only the non - cultivable land are acquired for SEZ purpose. as it was rightly said, we will end up in eating dvd players, if the cultivable land is taken over. Just like promoting industries, the agriculture should also be taken care, without which chances of survival is remote.

Very theoretical and high and lofty thought. Did it occur to you that not many people live around these barren lands (think of Thar desert??) and have you even spared thought for who will set up infrastructure there and from there upto nearest livable cities/ports/airports? And since these are export zones how would the companies send their exports? Agriculture of course needs to be taken care of as it is vital but to say only take non cultivable land will ensure that states with high degree of fertility in soil, e.g. UP , Bihar and WB would remain out of industrial growth forever. Think about it.
I am against SEZ , If govt started to acquire 1000 of acres of land for industrial purpose. what you will eat tommorrow LCD or some chemical. Encourage farming let the food grains items rates will come down. If the rate of the food items is rising .later a day poor people cannot afford a kilo of rice to eat
