Subhash Chandra & version 2.0 of Packer?
by S Kiran on Apr 07, 2007 11:59 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is a shame that the people and industrialists alike are mad about cricket, which has done no good to us. It is also a matter of shame that the team was kicked out in the first round. Instead of wasting money on cricket, invest in Tennis, atheletics, etc. we can hope for Olympics medals in a few years.

Yes, sometimes it feels really awful that a country with 1/6th of the total world population returns with 0 medals in Olympics ...

Destroy the Mafia
by Ravi on Apr 07, 2007 01:31 PM  Permalink

Mr.Chandra has taken a great step.I wish him all the luck. Our cricket board is a pool of idiot people with no response towards the game ,to keep up its morality and the interests of the Indian people who adorn this game.
The first and foremost thing is that the panel should consists of only the people who have played cricket and who have participated in international and to some extent in a domestic game.Mr.Pawar what he is doing here.
Somebody Just tell him to concentrate on his politics. Does he watch any of the matches, does he visit any Ranji or Deodhar trophy match that is being played. On what basis is the player analysis done??? They dont have answer to all these..Just scrap these people and the millionere stars in this team.
We need players who have the guts to be successful and come out as emerging winners and not the stylish models who vroommmm cars, sell biscuits...orient fans....colour hair dye...credit cards....engine oil ...
Are some one understand that these are salesmen...we need players....
Like we buff away the salesmen who come at our door...we should buff away these players...
But atleast the actual sales men are true to their job..but not these crooked fellows...just get them out of the sight ...and fill out new blood in the team.....

Bravo Chandra
by adesh saxena on Apr 07, 2007 01:28 PM  Permalink

BCCI is only interested in making money as also the players with a secondary look into the gentleman's game.Cricket will definitely flourish if a visionary and Karmyogi of the stature of Subhash Chandra steps in and makes the sport competitive and brings out the best professionals in India.

Why only BCCI ?
by Venkatraman Kannan on Apr 07, 2007 01:16 PM  Permalink

BCCI sometime ago declared in a court that they are only an association and the players under them are their members; in other words, BCCI do not represent India though it is an Indian establishment. Considering this, there is nothing wrong in having more professional bodies, in the lines proposed by Mr Chandra should be formed and made to compete with each other. AFter all cricket has become a well managed drama and let we the "cricket followers" have many versions of the drama called "Cricket"

I don't think it is a big problem. For starter what Mr. Chandra need is One stadium only. His earning will be from telecast not from tickets sales.
I think what Mr. Chandra is doing is good for Indian Cricket. Without a competitor to BCCI, Indian cricket will not improve.
We know BCCI will not drop non performing super stars from the team. BCCI too need these stars otherwise how would they will be able to sell telecast right to biggest bidder.

Subhash Chandra & version 2.0 of Packer
by DrYNI Anand on Apr 07, 2007 12:52 PM  Permalink

One should congratualte Subhash Chandra for his bold move. I was dreaming of such a venture but for obvious reasons not capable of executing it. It is time that a parallel or rival if may call, body of cricketers is badly needed in this country who will play the game and not the ads.

I have not forgotten the reaction of the media to Kerry Packer's bold move to start the one dayers (limited overs match). Again, many of us were dreaming of someone starting such a thing. The entire world dismissed him as a fool venturing into an area not belonging to him. The results proved otherwise. Today, limited overs matches are more popular, threatening the very existance of test matches! These very people who will make fun of Subhash Chandra will eat humble pie soon. It is only a matter of time.

Out of the box thinking works..
by Abhijit Gupta on Apr 07, 2007 12:40 PM  Permalink

This is a radical idea and it should be given a chance. BCCI with its Ranji trophy and Deodhar Trophy and various other trophies is only producing duds who cannot perform. And to top it all it doesnot even let the highest rungetter and highest wicket takers of these trophies any chance - anyway the players mafia is not letting them.

A 5 year moratorium is called for.
by chanakya maurya on Apr 07, 2007 11:39 AM  Permalink

The game itself and most of the people involved in it have become so much whorish that only a five year moratorium could be the best cure.

Let us be fair with ourselves rather than reconciling with the fixations yet once more.

Chandra is no milk-washed.

No game.

No shame for the country.
